There was a young Brazilian guy who worked there who was very friendly, talkative and very nice. On the other hand there was a Brazilian girl with glasses who was unfriendly, unwelcoming and rude. Her tone of voice and constant sighing made us feel unwelcome after a long bus journey. But the young guy was great! The cleaners were also very nice,

Rochina is a nice community spirited place, amazing view, so cheap to eat out, everything you need is inside the favela, i recomend speaking portuguese as barely anyone speaks english (obe does) He is really nice and helpful, the people in the favela are really nice and friendly once you talk to them. Can look a bit intimidating at first but really no worries, me and my boyfriend talkd with many locals and was made to feel really welcome!

The American guy who owned the hostel was really nice, friendly and welcoming. It was a little tricky to find as no taxi drivers knew the street, but it is literally right beside the sambodromo, it didnt look too safe but the owner reasured me its a ok neighbourhood. Cheap and cheerful with a nice vibe, free caipirinha when arriving!

Builders woke us up at 8am every morning drilling, full of creepy old men and ONE toilet for the whole hostel which was full of fag ends and ash. Showers were average and the common area was RUBBISH. Full of dirty plates and creepy romanian men staring at you...if your spending all day looking around its fine for somewhere to sleep but dont expect to be meeting your next best friend or attacker whatever way you think of it

Dear Guest, We are always trying to keep the hostel in best shape. That is why we from time to time need workers to fix things and adjust other things. Of cause we do these works when there are not many tourists staying. We try to perform works as quickly as possible - that is why we have many workers at the same time. Unfortunately the workers do not look like tourists and also do not behave like tourists - sorry for that. Our clean up girls clean up the FREE kitchen twice a day. We ask everybody to put all the disher in the cleaner after using it. Not all our guests unfortunately do this and so the dishes could remain until the next clean up by our staff.
