Anzac Hotel

This isn't the kind of place that you will tell your grandchildren about, but you've checked the other options and there really aren't any so you end up here ... And ... It is perfectly fine. The staff are generally good, though were a bit vacant when we had issues dealing with bus companies. Laundry service was excellent. Otherwise forgettable - not that there's anything wrong with that.

Godzillas Hostel

Moscow, Russia

Staff were fairly unhelpful and, on more than one occasion, rude. The various draconian policies printed on every wall like gulag-chic is going out of fashion leave a sour taste in the mouth, especially given that we found the fridge to be full of the stench of two month old food. Having cleaned it out and brought it to the attention of the staff, they offered no apology, or thanks, and simply blamed the cleaner. Blueprint of a very good hostel - somewhere that's got lost in murky green.

The CubaHostel

A hostel I've been coming back to since 2009 - it still has everything you could possibly want for a ridiculously cheap price in what is an increasingly expensive country. Good, clean rooms, spacious kitchens and about as much of a bar atmosphere as you could possibly have without having a bar in the venue. Staff are superb; helpful and efficient yet all charmingly individual.

Atillas Getaway

Selcuk, Turkey
97%

Even if it weren't within walking distance of Ephesus, Atilla's would still merit a visit on any trip down the coast from Istanbul. Stayed four years ago in mid-summer when the place was at its busiest, and returned this October to find the it quieter, but the same warm and welcoming atmosphere even more present. You need one day to see Ephesus, but most people seem to end up spending at least a couple to enjoy Atilla's.

Second Home Hostel

Istanbul, Turkey
100%

Although I've stayed in plenty of hostels on hostelworld, I've never been bothered to write a review. This hostel deserves one though - great location, walking distance from the waterfront and all the sites, superb and friendly staff and all the facilities you could want. This place should have a much better rating on hostelworld. The only reason not to come is if you're allergic to cats. Banjuk the hostel's resident cat was a much loved member of staff. Thanks !
