Shoestrings Airport Lodge

Johannesburg, South Africa

Thanks Rob, you've always been a great host. I'll see you again! Highly recommended airport hostel when arriving or departing Johannesburg's airport. The Protea hotel next door does indeed serve great meals and is surprisingly inexpensive(great view of the airport too!).

Villa Monalysa

Did not stay at this place but at Monalysa next door. Same business. The owner lives in one of the bungalows. This place would make an excellent backpacker if converted.

The people that run this place are some of the nicest I've meet in my world travels. Very helpful and sincere. Had only booked for one night but chose to stay for six. The location is very handy,a fews minutes from either the beach or a incredible supermarket.

Stayed one night. Give it a pass unless you need to be in Mahebourg and near to the airport.

St Christopher's Camden

Hostels that are run as part of a chain operation lose something in the process. Otherwise,if it were not for some of the staff it would be rather unremarkable as a hostel.
