Overall very good. Only a few issues: - A staff member sold us a book of partially-used NY pass tickets, claiming that they would include the MOMA. It turned out the MOMA tickets had both been used. I don't think this was deliberate though. - A locker in the (private) rooms would be nice, though not essential.

This hostel is one of the worst we've stayed in. It's not clean - we had left over food in our room, hair on the bathroom floor and a shower which hadn't been cleaned for some time. We booked a twin room with ensuite, but got a room with 4 bunks - it was crowded even with 2 people, so not sure how 4 would fit. The room was extremely dim (we couldn't even read at night). The hostel itself smelled - damp or sewerage, not sure. No laundry services and the nearest automatic laundry is very far away.

1) This is not a 3 star hotel. 2) No washing service was available and the staff were very unhelpful regarding finding laundromat nearby. 3) In some other respects (tourism in particular), the staff were much more helpful. 4) A room safe would be appreciated. 5) The bathroom was not the nicest and the toilet was frequently (albeit temporarily) blocked, but this is fairly common in China I suppose.

This place was fantastic! It was the best place we have stayed so far in Japan and was also the cheapest. The hostel is about 200m from the main station (and the key bus lines), but is still very quiet. The large Japanese style bath in the basement is particularly nice, although it is only open in the evenings. The staff were incredibly friendly (Note to future guests: if you want something - e.g. Internet - just ask, and the family will look after you!)

A business hotel for hostel prices = great! The staff here were incredibly helpful. They did not speak much English, but were very patient. Also, when we asked about internet, we were pleasantly surprised to get our own laptop for our room! :)
