This is actually a hotel, not a hostel. The prices are a bit on the high side, but it is worth it.

Good hostel, friendly, helpful staff. I recommend you ask the hostel to either pick you up at the airport or at Djemaa el F'na, as it is a bit hard to find it on your own the first time.

It's not a hostel, but a value-for-money hotel. If you are looking for a well-located, clean, quite, secure place to stay close the the main square, Majestic is the place to be. If you are looking for a party hostel, then you won't find what you are looking for and chances are good that you will bother other people with your noise. Late-night reception and 24 hours staff (night guard). I did not try the breakfast, but it looked good. I would recommend this place to other travellers.

At peak times, the showers and toilets were really unclean. In addition, there were some other problems in relation to cleanliness, such as a toilet that would leak water onto the floor when being flushed. However, the hostel was'nt less clean than your average camping in Europe. It was just that there was some room for improvements at this regard. Other than that, no real problems. Good guest kitchen, a lot of activities, cozy bar with cheapest drinks in town.

Staff was average, at best. No complaints about the daytime staff, though but the lady at the front desk wouldn't just lift a finger at night. Great location and clean rooms, though.

Great hostel, there is an on-site bar, restaurant and travel desk. The bar is not too noisy at night, our room was situated relatively close by and no problems sleeping.

Clean rooms, good neighborhood. Poor attention to clients: most of the time there is no one sitting at the reception, you have to wait for quite a bit before they open the door. The showers are lukewarm, at best.

Bothy Hostel

We only spent one night at this hostel, but we liked it. It is conveniently located close to the main square of Arequipa. It has a shared kitchen, so you can fix yourself some dinner. The view from the rooftop terrace is amazing. The rooms are a bit cold at night, though, but there are plenty of blankets. Everything is clean and the showers are hot.

Great little place and Alberto really helps you out where he can. There were some comments here about the walls, they have upgraded the walls since then (2 layers of wood + insulation now). We had no problems sleeping from noises from other rooms. T

There are hostels and there is Francis' Miraflores House. Great location, clean, and most importantly, fantastic service. The staff really helps you out in all they can. Francis gives you a series of maps when you arrive and he explains the most important things to know: where to go, where not to go, how to move around, where to eat, etc. Best hostel we have been to in Peru!
