I booked a 4-bedroom dorm and they put on a 6-bedroom. Messy. The 6 bed-dorm was very tiny and it was difficult to move around it. Good lockers size, though. Staff was very helpful.
Stayed here two different periods: initially, stayed in the 4th floor and ALL beds were incredibly noisy -- I mean it, if you move, no one sleeps. During my second stay the beds were ok, though. Ar-cond was very good and showers hot. There's no showers outside the rooms and it may be embarrassing to use it late in night as it will bother others in the room (during the melty summertime there was no way to go to be without it).
Security- one day we forgot the keys on the dorm and got 3am in the hostel and just went to the back door and entered. Location- a good 20 minutes walk to the beach/restaurants/bars. Staff- sold us a wrong ferry ticket and was laughing at us when we ask for refund. At the end they recognised the mistake ("the staff sometimes doesn't understand english") and gave the money back - but no sorries. The rest - one day without water, cold showers and little water pressure. Avoid it!
Room are spacious and surprisingly (for the quantity of people on it) clean. Staff very helpful. In the map it looked closer to the subway but it is a good 20 minutes walk.
The bathroom was very dirty: water was leaking from the shower making the toilet to stay in a nasty condition. And it was not cleaned during the day. The cleaning lady everyday opened our door's room in the morning (from 7am). It happened more than one time per morning and one day she even turned on the lights and left (and it was far from the check-out time!) Impossible to understand.
Staff very friendly. Room was clean and the bed comfortable.
Staff looked very bored and unfriendly, no smiles at all. Hostel has a nice common area, shower water was hot but all the hangers were broken, what made it difficult to use. Location only advisable if you don't want to be in other part of the city but the old town -- specially in times of political protests, very difficult to commute to the city.
Staff were helpful, great breakfast and easy to reach location. Good facilities that are underutilised in terms of connecting people/fun. Overall is an excellent option and would definitely stay there again.
The staff is extremely helpful. The hostel is close to a subway station which is convenient. Their tour to the Great Wall was also good, with no shopping stops and free time for sightseeing. There is not much fun going on the hostel. Also, the wifi didn't work in our room. We stayed in a twin bed private and if you are tall, it will be a problem for you to shower as the heater is placed in a low level in the wall. For the price they charge, I'd look for other private room in the city.
The helpfulness of staff here is from another world. Anything you need is likely to be arranged by them -- with smile in their faces. Location is OK. Overall a great value for money.
The couple running this guesthouse is extremely helpful. From the first minute he briefed us with the main tours and sights of HCMC. The facilities could be better, but is still a very good value for money. The location is very good although we have to recognize the little alley where it sits is very strange (almost frightening) at the first sight.
Staying here is just as be at home in South Korea. Hyunju, the manager, is extremely helpful - she even woke up 4am in the morning to give us a ride to the bus stop when there was no other option to reach the airport early in the morning. Their generosity also made us a lovely (and free) Korean dinner. The location might not be best, but the metro is less than 100 meters away, making everywhere in the city easily reachable. Also, the neighbourhood is calm and full of green. Don't miss it!
To begin with, only by the time of check-in I was informed that the room was actually on the "new" annex building -- that happens to be a Japanese house where they're stocking guests. The "staff" is a old couple that living there. There was one shower for 3 floors of rooms -- and the door could not be closed. The room itself is closed with a small fragile lock even a child can open. No front desk and front door was always open. There are a lot of good hostel in Tokyo no need to come here.
Staff spoke excellent english. Wonderful space for showers that together with the toilets were always clean. The bar is a good way to meet fellow travellers. Although it is very close from the central station, I felt located a bit far from everything. But it can be solved with practical Kyoto's bus system.
The stay was amazing. Bathrooms were very clean. Staff very helpful and being close to the subway is a facility. But the highlight is the bar where you can meet not only travellers, but a lot of locals. It was amazing!
