The hostel has a good vibe with some drinking etc, but quiet after 10pm so we could sleep fine. The staff are friendly, although it wasnt exactly clear who was on duty out of the 4 staff who seemed to come and go. I'd suggest some identification like a hostel shirt or something. The bathrooms are cleaned only once a day, and there are only 2 bathrooms for the hostel. Our dorm light broke twice. The breakfast is mediocre- bread, jam, juice and coffee. I would try somewhere else next time.
The owners here are friendly and picked us up at the airport. Our room was a private one, downstairs at road level away from bathroom/kitchen, it had no window. It was a bit strange and disconnected from the main hostel, like a storage room, but comfortable enough. The breakfast was very simple and they kindly let us have it early for our early flight. The location is good and easy to walk to restaurants. But all in all we did not enjoy Sao Paulo as a destination. Would not visit Sao Paulo again
The owner here is fantastic, and always has time to help with anything, and with perfect english as well. The atmosphere is really great, the courtyard is just perfect. Breakfast was simple but good. Free water and snacks is a really nice touch. It is hard to say a bad word due to how friendly the hostel is, but I have to say the bathroom cleanliness was a bit lacking - the shower really needed new tiles or at least a very thorough cleaning of ingrained dirt. Wifi only works in common area too.
This is a very basic hostel. It is not close to any shops or restaurants, it is about 20 minutes walk to the city. The staff are friendly, and were kind enough to keep something i left behind for me to collect again later.
This hostel is over rated. We had no hot water for 4 days, and on one day no hot water at all (apparently a gas problem). Not enough seating in common space, room for about 5 people so it was always full. Outdoor area had more space, but guy working there was smoking a lot there and it was very cold. Not much cleaning done in dorm, maid would tidy up your belongings (which we didn't want them to touch). Bathroom was only cleaned about once in 5 days. Slow wifi. Cheap, and a good location though.
Strange to need to buzz every time you go upstairs. Other than that a normal hostel.
We had a bad experience where a dorm user urinated on the floor. We informed reception but they did nothing for 1 hour. We had to ask twice before they would move us to a new dorm. They didnt even evict this guy. Everyone had to leave the dorm and move because of one irresponsible person. But it was a good clean hostel, good aircon, a little bit out of the city. Would be nice if they didnt charge so much for parking (~18euro per night).
A clean simple hostel, ofcourse the location isnt that great - you have to catch a train in to the city (which is 2euro per person, and 2euro return). But it was ok for us since we had a rental car, and they had parking for about 10euro per day. It is a very big place, the kitchen was a bit of a mess at times, and the staff have quite average customer service. Not acknowledging waiting customers, etc. I probably would stay here again, but only if I needed cheap parking.
It is a simple and acceptable hostel. The showers are quite small. The annoying thing is the "eco" aspect, where they have lights in the showers that turn off after a few minutes, so you are in the dark in a shower. We liked that it was fairly relaxed, not really a party atmosphere. We were in a 4 bed dorm. The location is good, but still 5-10 mins walk from the metro. I probably would try somewhere else next time though.
This is one of the few Hostels in Olomouc. It is a strange place, there are people there who seem to be living there for quite a while. The place is very quiet at times which is uncomfortable - some background music would be better. The long term tennants seem to leave mess in the kitchen which is not great. Note, there are 4 flights of stairs and no lift, so luggage can be a pain.
Note: hostel on 3rd floor so painful if you have much luggage. This hostel is good in all respects, but a bit out of the way, you need to walk 5minutes then get a tram for a few stops to get into the city. It is good value though.
Need to buzz to get in everytime, would be better with keycode. This is a very well located hostel, very good breakfast, fast internet, fairly clean. Only complaint is the noise - the doors do not seem to block a lot out, so if there is much action going on you will hear it even through your door. The hostel really encourages partying and drinking, so maybe its not the best place if you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere for a couple.
Inadequate heating in October 2013, cant imagine how it is in Winter. Location is 5mins walk, and 4 tram stops away from the city. Owner is friendly, and will chat to you when you are in the common room. It is a nice enough hostel but just too far from the city.
A fairly good hostel. The rooms are hidden away down various corridors, so its a bit of a maze to get to them, a pain if you have much luggage because there are plenty of stairs. Our beds were right next to the dorm door, in a large dorm this meant a lot of waking up, just got unlucky with the beds I guess.
5 minute walk to town, has elevators which is good for luggage. Staff were friendly and helpful. Main complaint is the Kitchens, there is one on each floor, and a lot of the time they are a mess with full rubbish bins, and the sink full of plates. The guests are obviously not cleaning up after themselves, so this hostel will need a way to address that. The dorm windows only open partially, so there is not enough ventilation, the dorm rooms dont smell great when full of guests.
This is a nice hostel. The owner is very friendly, and it offers very good value.
A normal hostel, location is ok because its near a cool part of Hamburg. Problem was the Kitchen is TINY, too small to even cook anything, and one tiny fridge for everyone was overflowing. In the morning we came to the kitchen to find the bin overflowing, so obviously not emptied from the day before, not pleasant to make breakfast with flies around the bin. They say they will "give away" your room if you are more than 2hours late, this is a silly policy.
The hostel is ok, but the Kitchen is tiny, and has a table with two chairs, so dont expect to be able to cook or eat in there.
A very good hostel. Although in the evenings the common areas (including the Kitchen) get pretty busy with people drinking from about 7pm-10pm, so it might be difficult to cook or relax there.
First night we arrived, our dorm room (5bed) was RIGHT NEXT TO THE ROAD, I got only a few hours sleep because of this, because there was a vehicle at least once ever hour or so all night. The next day the hostel kindly allowed us to change rooms to the larger dorm which was much better. The kitchen is only just big enough, and there really isnt enough space in the common room either. The hostel is split into two buildings which is inconvenient. Location is great though.
Very large and well setup hostel. Massive kitchen/dining/bar area which is great. Good breakfast. Good facilities. Wifi is a bit slow though. If you need fast wifi (for skype) then you need to pay to use the PC's there.
I would not stay here again, the bathroom had ants everywhere which got in our toiletries bags. The bed is somewhat rickety, there is plenty of dust on many surfaces. When we arrived the whole entrance was under construction, this meant that the pool had jackhammers going on next to it, so there was no possibility to really use that. I would find somewhere else to stay if I came back. The door is secured by a single old lock, windows do not have bars etc, and each one is a separate bungalow.
good hostel, but aged curtains, carpets, bathrooms, etc. but you get what you pay for, so overall it was good.
