Montacute Boutique Bunkhouse

Hobart, Australia

Really impressive new hostel. Was clean with great facilities. Good internet connection and very comfy beds. One suggestion is that the security when you leave bags in the lobby is not great since the staff is not always present and nothing is locked. Another improvement would be to change the phone number for the Airport Shuttle as the one provided on the information sheet is for Launceston and not Hobart.

Location excellent, could see everything from both the rooms I stayed in. Kitchen was well stocked and clean. Room was secure but no lockers. Free wifi is good but it is sometimes very temperamental. Good facilities. Ensuite bathrooms were great but can be loud early morning. Staff were fine but they can't handle multiple bookings made for one person. I had to check out, store my luggage, check back in and change rooms. If you have multiple bookings, I would call ahead to save the drama.

Good location. Free breakfast was good (albeit simple). Secure keys were good but no lockers. "Free wifi" wasn't working when I was there, free computers downstairs but they were extremely slow. This made it difficult to plan, especially because wifi is not available in many cafes in Dunedin and library wifi was temperamental. Not much info on what to do (i-site nearby). Staff were a bit absent and busy with the bar downstairs. Kitchen was good and bathrooms were ok.

Jailhouse Accommodation

Christchurch, New Zealand

Clean. Lockers provided in room if you have your own lock, because door usually left open by others. Staff keep noise level down by clearing out the main area at 9:30 to the lobby, which is nice (although there is a drinking curfew, which is a bit much). Good information about what to do. Internet is overpriced at $3 per hour (it's free in Re:Start Mall). It's also very far from the city centre, 30 min to walk and 40 mins walk to New World supermarket. I would not stay there again without a car

Fish Tank Lodge

Good location. Cleanliness was average. Free wifi was great. The kitchen could do with restocking- more cutlery, crockery and a knife sharpener would be helpful. No lockers and doors often left open, so quite insecure.

Great staff. They even gave me a lift to the ferry which was a massive help. New hostel so it's clean. Internet is free (albeit temperamental). Breakfast is free (albeit simple). Friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Secure key system although no lockers in room. The only thing is that the hostel is a little far from the city centre (very close to bus terminal, railway station and supermarket). I would come back and I would recommend it to friends.

Great atmosphere. The rooms and lockers could be more secure, ie, locks provided. Staff could be more knowledgable of Adelaide. Great BBQ on Wednesdays. I really enjoyed the pub crawl: the organiser was great.

The big hostel was fantastic. The staff were excellent, the rooms and bathrooms clean and the location was good. We even had a television and a dvd player in our twin room! The atmosphere was chilled. I would visit big hostel again and recommend it to friends.

High Street Hostel

Really nice little hostel. Clean. Central. Great staff. Nice beds. I would just get my own breakfast instead of buying theirs. There is no luggage room which makes leaving luggage a bit risky. Otherwise great place. Would stay there again!

Really good atmosphere. Great staff. Clean. Good Internet. Good breakfast. No curfew. 24. Hour staff. Good DVD collection. Would recommend it and would stay there again.

Marlborough Hostel

Dublin, Ireland

Nice little hostel. Good staff. Clean. Good breakfast. Internet ok when working. Nice big TV with lots of DVDs for rainy days in Dublin. Drawbacks were the location was close to the centre but in a dodgy area. Muggings and drug addicts are common. Also leaving luggage costs money. Other than these drawbacks, really nice hostel and I would stay there again.

Funky Cordoba

This is a nice little hostel. Good staff, good location and very clean. The drawbacks were the beds kind of fell apart in our room and that they only had one normal sized pot and one spoon. Also wifi only worked in a weird part of the building. Apart from that no complaints! Really nice terrace on the top of the building and nice big bedrooms and bathrooms.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Dear Lauren! I would like to give you some explanations to your comments. We are updating the furniture, well, it can't be made everything at one time. So if you can come back one day we hope you will see the difference. I can say the same about the kitchen. The bad point is that the spoons always disappear in some way. Our wifi works in the lobby (recepction) as we say on hostelworld. We hope that despite this little points you enjoyed your stay! Have a nice time, Zuzana

Las Musas Hostel

Pretty good place. The location is good (although area has some dodgy characters in it). The staff are nice. The showers were clean and the internet was fast. The breakfast was ok although there was only frosties and jam- so nothing without sugar overload. Train strikes were on. Bedbugs in the bunk above me.

Indigo Youth Hostel

Valencia, Spain

Really nice hostel. Clean, well located, friendly staff, good internet, free maps, 24 hour reception, linen included, nice showers. The only drawbacks were was quiet loud one night and they kept the music playing until after 1am. I am not a light sleeper so it didn't bother me much. Would recommend it and would stay there again.

Albergue Zaragoza Hostel

Zaragoza, Spain

Really good hostel. Good location, good staff who spoke english. Breakfast fine. Free lockers with locks on them. Free maps and breakfast. Well organised and staff were always there. Which was a bonus. Drawbacks were linen not included and bathrooms were a little weird (not much privacy). But a really good hostel and I would stay there again.

Very clean. Good free breakfast and free linen. We had two bathrooms. Lots of space. Really big place. Very organised. The drawbacks were that the location is a little far out. They only had four comupters for a huge place and two of these were broken for the five days I was there. Internet connection wasn´t always the best. Not a place to party. I would recommend it and go back though. Good nights sleep.

83%

Nice place to stay. Free map. The kitchen was in the room so this was like a little apartment. Big bathroom with good showers. Spare bathrooms as well. Pretty clean and free lockers. Location and staff were ok. Drawbacks were that the linen cost 5 euros. Very expensive. Can be a little disorganised. But would recommend it.

Aloha Hostel

Paris, France
70%

The staff were good. When I told them a bed had bedbugs, they moved me straight away. Everything's expensive, sheets 3e plus 7e deposit, internet 2e for 1/2 an hour etc. The showers could be cleaner and easier to use. On the whole, a decent hostel. Not worth the price- but Hey! That's Paris!

73%

Only stayed one night. The staff were accomodating when we arrived 45 mins past curfew due to a delayed flight. At curfew 2am, they lock everyone out. The staff could not speak English well and impossible to understand on the phone. The rooms seem nice, the showers could be cleaner. There were rumours of bedbugs. The breakfast is great.

Hotel Salus

Milan, Italy

BEWARE. We booked a Double Room for 60E. The hotel manager claimed we had booked a single room regardless of our reservation number. Two Finnish girls walked in and encountered the same problem. Hotel manager said he could push four beds in a double room for the SAME PRICE. He refused to own their mistake and remained unapologetic. The hotel is running a SCAM to try and get people to pay more money. We didn't stay there. The hotel looks run-down and dirty.

Emerald Fields

Florence, Italy
83%

This hostel was great. The staff were helpful, you got a free map and it was right in the centre of Florence. The place was clean enough and the internet was free. The only small issue we had was the 12am-8am lock out of the kitchen and closed reception. Leaving and eating early was not possible. The oven and stove were broken- but they provided free cereal, coffee, milk, bread and spreads due to the inconvenience. Overall great hostel!!

Ciao Bella Hostel

Rome, Italy
63%

The staff of ciao bella are trying to make the hostel work and are very inclusive and friendly. This is a great place to meet new people. However, the hostel is not clean. There are no lockers and the doors don't lock, which makes security impossible. There wasn't any hot water for one night, the fridge wasn't working the next day and many of the electricity sockets don't work. There was also an 12am-8am kitchen lock out, which makes getting to the vatican city museum by 8:15 impossible.

PLUS Alba D'Oro Camping

Venice, Italy
73%

The hostel was very clean and two of us got the three bedroom cabin to ourselves plus our own bathroom. The breakfast was good. The location is terrible and the buses can be confusing. The shuttle buses fill up quickly and you have to take the public buses, which are 2.50 each and the same back (10 Euro- two buses return). Sometimes they stop running early, don\'t come or don't allow you to buy a ticket on board.

Balloon Hostel

Krakow, Poland
77%

The Balloon Hostel location is in the Jewish Quarter of Krakow. So it is a great location for the Jewish Quarter (bohemian/artsy). However, the hostel is a good 15 mins walk to the main centre of Krakow. Some staff good. Others unorganised, surly, not much English, not sure if you've paid, different staff each day. Hostel FILTHY for first couple of days, then cleaned. Breakfast and beds good. Like living in someone's apartment, good for taste of bohemian life in Krakow.

New World St. Hostel

Warsaw, Poland
83%

PRO- location awesome, pretty clean, staff good, free internet, great breakfast, free tea/coffee. CONTRA- many steps to get up to the hostel, room freezing because heater broken but they refused to move us or fix it and it was -5, so it was a COLD two nights.

Old Town Hostel Gdansk

Gdansk, Poland
70%

PRO- staff good, pretty clean, cheap, breakfast very simple but sufficient, free internet and free tea/coffee. CONTRA- location not that great, needs more bathrooms, only one common room which is sometimes full, springs in mattress uncomfortable, simple breakfast can sometimes run out of food.

77%

The walk is very long from the train station (Hauptbahnhof). I think about 20 minutes. I wouldn't carry my heavy backpack the whole way again. The bathroom had a carpet of mold which was absolutely disgusting. The cleaning staff don't clean the bathrooms properly. The staff were great. The food was great and the drinks were cheap. The hang out rooms are fun. With a revamp of the bathrooms, this could be a fantastic stay!
