One of the rooms(deluxe double) is located on the top floor, and faces the main road which is very noisy with traffic. In the main hostel, they ask you not to make any noise at night which is fine, but they make lots of noise from 7am onwards. The kitchen and living areas are too close to the rooms so it's loud in the morning. Some of the staff were nice, others not so nice. They charged quite a lot for towels every time you need one. Location good but on loud road. No atmosphere in evening.
Lorena was a lovely host and the hostel is very nice. Probably one of the comfiest beds I've slept in in a hostel. Nice room with good aircon, good bathroom. Best for couples than those looking for a lively atmosphere and it's not in central Puerto Iguazu so you have to be aware of this, it's a taxi ride into town or from the bus station. Lorena provided a lot of info, great help with taxis and organising visits to places, and a very nice breakfast catering to my gluten free requirements!
Gloria isn't the safest or nicest area in Rio, but if you're sensible you should be fine, and it's very close to the subway and to the nightlife of Lapa, which has more bars, restaurants and sights to see. Staff were ok, and there wasn't much atmosphere or buzz like the best hostels have, but the price was good considering it was just before New Year and they didn't hike the prices as much as other hostels did. No A/C, only fans, but rooms and showers fairly decent.
One of the beds was broken, hostel is out in the sticks, pretty far from anywhere else unless you take cabs or buses. The price isn't that cheap for the area. Staff are quite friendly and helpful though.
One of the best hostels I've stayed in - great character, nice rooms, friendly staff, excellent location close to the sights. Very nice bar with cheap food and drinks, pool table, nice courtyard. Staff were very helpful and Qufu is a nice place, very worth a visit for the peaceful Confucius forest.
Can be a bit difficult to find at first, especially at night. Staff were friendly and quite helpful. Main problem was the beds were rock hard so couldn't get a very comfortable night's sleep which was a shame, as everything else was good. The bar is not actually in this hostel either, it is nearby and was very quiet while we were there.
Really nice hostel - we were only there for one night but wish it was longer! Very clean, nice rooms, good restaurant and bar, friendly helpful staff. The tour was well run and the woman who ran the tour was really nice and bent over backwards to help us out.
Amazing staff - very helpful, friendly and nice. Hostel was good but shower wasn't working properly when we were there and there were some renovations going on so a bit loud. Good to have free breakfast and tea/coffee, and the communal areas were ok.
Real mixed bag from this place - very central location, which is good obviously if a bit loud at times. It is a massive hostel and because of this has a very impersonal feel - the staff aren't friendly, knowledgeable or helpful (a bit overworked but they often have conversations with each other behind the desk whilst a massive queue of angry people builds up). But other pluses are its clean, secure, has good wifi, beds, & room size. Fine for a place to crash but not for a longer stay.
This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Its incredibly clean, amazing value for money, and the staff go out of their way to help you. On the first night I met the owner, Volker, who insisted on buying me drinks and singing karaoke! The hostel is in a good location in East Berlin which is quiet but a short walk or train journey to the livelier areas. The hostel is very nice inside, good room size and comfy beds. The staff at the hostel made us feel very welcome. Thanks Singer109!!
