Hostel Villa Mary

Taganga, Colombia
100%

Best option for you in Taganga! Great hostel, quite small and family-run. The owner goes out of his way to make your stay as nice and uncomplicated as he can and gives you lot of information about what to do around. The common areas are really chilled with hammocks. Breakfast is good and the dorm has air conditioning which is a huge plus! Location is good a well, in Taganga you can hardly be more than 4 blocks away from the beach...

Hostal El Papillon

San Gil, Colombia

Very nice, family run hostel with great common areas inside and outside and a big kitchen (with water filter, really great!). Silvano and his family are very friendly and can give you lots of information about what to do in San Gil and the rest of Colombia.. They also offer good rates for excursions and bus tickets. The hostel is a few minutes walking from the centre of the town, but lots of small shops around.

Aventura Backpackers Lodge

I stayed only 2 nights but would definitely recommend this small hostel. Basic, but very good value for money - very well equipped kitchen for common use, good mattresses, area to hand wash your clothes. Only about 5 minutes walking to the main square. Try to get the rooms upstairs, as the ones next to the reception can be a bit noisy. Also sell tours for a good price, staff is very friendly and helpful. No personal lockers available, but you can store your valuables at the reception.

Casa Fresh

Stayed here for 5 nights and can definitely recommend it! Great location, with the beach just across the street and a really nice terrace from where you can enjoy the sunset. The rooms could do with new mattresses, but the atmosphere and the staff are great. They also sell tours, surf lessons and rent equipment. Enjoyed my time very much, thanks again to Richy and the rest of the staff ;)

Santa Cruz Trek

I was really disappointed by this hostel. After seeing the very good website I expected more, but when I got there my room was really dirty (filthy carpet, looked like it wasn´t even hoovered) and the mattresses are really old so you nearly feel the wood of the bed. bathrooms were also not really clean, breakfast poor. the location is ok, about 10-15 minutes walk to the Plaza de Armas, but there is not much around the hostel. there are lots of better options in the center for a similar price.

Hostal Chaska Wasi

Ollantaytambo, Peru

Quite expensive for what you get. Hostel is right at the Plaza de Armas (although it doesn´t really matter as Ollantaytambo is really small). Rooms were ok, a common area/bar is available which is really nice. Beds are ok, the bathroom was smelly and not really clean though and there are no lockers. Breakfast is really poor unfortunately. The owner gives a lot of valuable information.

Supertramp Hostel

Try to not get the room next to the bar, can be a bit loud if you have to get up very early the next day (like nearly everyone), also it was a bit smelly because there was no outside window. Apart from that very good hostel, the bar is nice and you get a discount on the food downstairs which is also very good. Beds are comfortable, and there are lockers in the room. The staff is great and very helpful, the location is good as it is not directly in the centre and therefore a bit more quiet.

Very nice hostel, definitely coming back! Great location, close to to the city center as well as to many bars, but still very quiet. Great common areas, big lockers in the room, computers to use for free, comfy beds, nice & helpful staff....Only downside there is no breakfast included, but there is tea and coffee for free all day - check out El Desayunador just up the Cerro Concepcion for great breakfast all day long ;)

Nice hostel with good pub downstairs, staff friendly and helpful, rooms large with a lot of space - but unfortunately no lockers in the rooms and very few showers and toilets for the amount of rooms/people

Great hostel, lovely common rooms and garden. Rooms good and very clean as well. Don't miss Viktors empanadas which he prepares every day, and the asado on wednesday and saturday (great food, even for vegetarians!). Only bad points are the kitchen which is not very good equipped, and you don't get breakfast early, although most of the excursions start very early.

Nice hostel, good locatio - close to the beach, good bus connection to city centre. Friendly staff which helps you to plan your stay! Comfy beds and big lockers, but if you want to have a quiet night better ask for a room upstairs, close to the reception it can be quite noisy!
