This is a fantastic little hostel that really helps you with what you want to do: get to the slopes and go skiing. The staff were great (especially Anna the Swede on reception!) and the common area was warm and friendly. The equipment they have for hire really helps, especially the ski clothes that you would otherwise have to rent at the slopes.

This hostel is amazing. The shared free dinner gets everyone together every night for either casual hangs or, more likely, as pre-game for drunken revelry when you meet the other party hostel groups. Octavian (?) on reception was super helpful and made sure everyone had a good time. Easy walking distance to everything, especially bus/train station. Honestly there isnt much they could improve. Will definitely return.

New World St. Hostel

Two people had money and a laptop stolen from them while I was staying here, which doesn't really say much about the security of the place. The location is perfect for sight-seeing and easy to get to from the bus/train stations. Staff were very helpful, particularly with the people who had their belongings stolen. The breakfast was pretty good value too.

The value for money on this place is amazing, it couldn't really be any cheaper. That being said, its a place you should only stay if you aren't planning on spending much time in the hostel. The showers were pretty dirty and kept running out of hot water. Our room intermittently had no heating, which naturally made it very difficult to sleep. Some of the staff were helpful, but others were completely occupied with flirting with a large group of German/Dutch guests, and didn't seem to care.

Fantastic little hostel right next to the main bus terminal and walking distance to everything. The staff were bubbly and very helpful, and really made you feel welcome. The hostel really has everything you need and for a decent price too - I would stay here again if I ever come back to Galway.

The hostel was still pretty new so everything was very clean and well organised. The security wasnt great though, as you could fairly easily get into all the rooms on your level. Also the 'private' room on the top floor didn't have walls that extended all the way up to the roof, so you could clearly hear everything that happened in there. Yeah. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location couldn't be better. Would stay again.

Fantastic location, about the best place in the Old Town you could possibly be. The rooms are really spacious and clean too. The guy who runs it, Luke, knows all about the local area and was happy to help out with advice on things to do/see/eat. Really good price for what you get - definitely recommend.

Wow, where to start? On arrival I was practically ignored by the rude receptionist. My Kindle was taken from my bed and left in 'lost property' by staff. The cleaners randomly distribute items that arent' in your bag, so I realised after I left that my expensive martial arts gear has also disappeared. I came back at 3:00am one night, rang the bell for 30 minutes without being admitted, so I had to find emergency couchsurfing accommodation. Receptionist didn't seem to care about this. Stay away.

I was turned away at the door in the pouring rain and told "we have no beds available". I walked down the street to get WiFi, booked a bed in one of the 8 rooms still available, and came back and was let in. When I asked why, I was told "we dont take walk in customers". This is my 4th time staying here, and I have "walked in" twice. This will be my last time staying here. This stay had dirty bathrooms, no WiFi in the rooms, and was full of loud groups of stag parties. Take your money elsewhere.

Budapest Beat Hostel

Pretty nice little hostel, very close to a Spar supermarket and the main 4-6 tram line which is pretty important for getting around a city as big as Budapest. The staff were helpful and the place was clean, but there isnt really much of an atmosphere to the place due to no real common room (except for the middle of the big dorm). Its a good place to act as a launch pad for getting out into the rest of Budapest.

Fantastic atmosphere in this place, really great for meeting solo or small groups of travelers. It just seems to attract an interesting type of traveler as opposed to the rampaging drunken tools you find everywhere else. Also, its actually easily walkable from the main bus station in about 10-15 minutes if you have directions beforehand, so you don't even need to use the tram. Definitely recommend staying here for the staff, hostel itself, and for the people you will meet. You won't regret it.

Pretty stock-standard hostel close to both the train station and the centre of town, but Ljubljana is pretty small so most of the places are. The staff were nice and helpful and the place was clean, although the showers were those ones where you need to constantly hold in the button for water to come out... pretty awful on that front. Not a whole lot of atmosphere going on in the common room, but that could have just been while I was there.

Its a bit far out of town, but the tram easily reaches it within 15 minutes at any time of day or night so this isnt a problem. One of the best atmospheres for any hostel I've stayed in - the nightly campfire and BBQ cook up naturally draws everyone together. Staff are very friendly, open, and helpful despite the 100+ staying at the site. Definitely recommend if you want a slightly different hostel experience.

This is not a hostel - it is a hotel in which you can pay less to share rooms. I booked this in haste without checking reviews so it's my own fault, but the hotel was filled with very large groups of school kids, scouts/girl-guides, contiki/top-deck tours, and not much else. The atmosphere suffered significantly because of this. Staff would forget me 5 minutes after talking to me because of the number of guests. Great location and good value though, so if in a group this is a nice place to stay.

Great staff, very helpful. The hostel is just outside of the old town, so you get a good location without tonnes of noisy nightlife on your doorstep. There were construction works going on next door while I stayed which began at about 6am. Very annoying, but out of the control of the hostel I guess. They could probably add an extra computer in, as it is kind of difficult to get on to the 1 that they have.

Only stayed here one night but it was pretty good. Seems like a pretty big hostel! There was a travelling gypsy band staying while I was there which added a lot of atmosphere to the place. Staff were very friendly and very helpful, even though I was just staying overnight. The door to my room was constantly unlocked, but that was more the peoples fault than the hostel. Would probably stay here again if I came back to Warsaw.

The owner was great, added a personal touch to the place due to him living on site. Happy to spend time giving you tips on where to go and what to do. The location is great - right in the centre near town hall square. Unfortunately it was a bit quite when I stayed here so there wasnt much of a buzz in the place, but it seems like it would be nice when there are more people. Waffles for breakfast are a nice change from the usual toast and cereal!

Not really anything to complain about here. The staff were great - actually bothering to remember the names of individual guests even though there were over 60 of us staying there. The location is convenient enough for everything in the city, but not in the middle of a noisy area so you can actually sleep at night. Great views of the river too. Will definitely stay here when I am back in Riga again.

This place gives you the benefit of a small hostel (only 12 beds), with the owner living on site and adding a real personal touch to the place. At night, you can sit around and play with the real live bunny, or head out to all the bars nearby with the owner as your personal pub crawl expert! Seriously an amazing place. Ilze the Burt Reynolds impersonating Latvian who lives on site and helps out with everything also makes everyone feel at home. Stay here. Do it.

Location was horrible, even using the tram it takes at least 25 minutes to the city. No food options close by. No anything closeby. Staff are friendly when approached, but always stay behind a glass screen in the office. Toilets had a terrible smell even after being cleaned. Large group of school students on the last day. Breakfast was really good value. Hostel was cheap for Helsinki, but far from good value for money. Don't recommend. If you do stay here, buy a transport card ASAP.

Making people pay for bedding is a bit of a rort, even if it is on the booking page - no one brings all of their bedding around Europe with them. Other than that, this hostel was fantastic. It is less than 5 minutes walk from the Central bus and train stations, alcohol shop, 7-11 stores, restaurants, and you can easily walk or catch the metro to anywhere in the city. The hostel has enough people in it to be fun, but still feels cosy inside. The staff were amazing, going out of their way to help.

It's a shame, I agree. I wish more hostels in Europe would allow you to bring your own bed linen to save money. But it is totally worth doing as long as you travel Scandinavia. Most hostels here want to cut laundry costs and save the environment, so they let you use your own sheets. What I usually do is I pack old bed linen, which I am going to throw away anyway, and then I just get rid of them at the last hostel I'm staying. That way I get more room in my bag for shopping as well! Glad you enjoyed your stay here, and I hope you had a nice time travelling the rest of Europe as well! Cheers, Lena

Amsterdam Hostel Orfeo

Location was good, but Amsterdam is small so its quit easy to get everywhere from anywhere. If you have a room facing the street, expect to be kept up by partygoers until about 3am. There is only 1 toilet and 1 shower for an entire floor. Price gouging on weekends, but I guess they cant be blamed for that; although a girl in my dorm was paying 55Euro for a night when I payed only 40Euro, somehow. The staff change over quite a lot - some are very helpful, others are completely uninterested.

Stayed in 2 bed private with ensuite. Bed was quite noisy, and the toilet leaked a bit. Otherwise, this was probably one of the best hostels I've stayed at, mainly because of the people. The owner, Zackry, is very welcoming and helpful with everything.
