One of the best hostels I've stayed at in China. Great bar & restaurant as a common area to hang out. They provide great directions and tips on getting around to places in Kunming, but it'd be nice if they also provided some print outs with these directions or maps to take with you when you go out.
Such a charming heritage house! I really enjoyed my brief stay here. Great open family area and breakfast (toast & coffee) is available until noon for late sleepers. Superb location on Love Lane. Friendly & helpful staff.
If you're looking for a beach hostel to chill out at for a while, look no further. I met so many fun people at Zackry's and Sam is a very inviting host. It felt like having a family in a quiet location near a relaxing beach.
They took us across the street to a room in another building that was really someone's home (but were renting out one of their spare rooms). It was a little awkward to have to walk through someone's living room just to get to your "hostel." I think this place is really just used for overflow when it's busy at the real hostel. It was really difficult to use the shower in the bathroom since the toilet took up most of the room and so you had to stradle the toilet to take a shower.
We had a great stay at Yourhouse. The owners made it easy to book everything at the best rates possible. Our room was also very comfortable. Thanks so much for your hospitality!
I had a great stay at the Lazy Gaga hostel. The staff is EXTREMELY helpful - they went way out of their way to help a number of guests with issues such as arranging cabs, giving subway directions, making special accomodations, etc. My only concern was that the hostel entrance is very open for anyone to walk in. The door locks are excellent, but overall security for the lobby area is questionable. The facilities are all brand new & in great condition, nonetheless.

The staff are very nice, although we wish we could have had more instruction on climbing Mt. Emei. The map that is available is pretty rotten. The food is great at the hostel, and the beds are all nice and new. It's great they also provide soap/shampoo in the showers.
The map the hostel has created for exploring Chengdu is excellent. However, a bit more transparency as to how to go about excursions independently (rather than in a guided tour group) would have been appreciated. For example, we wanted to go to a Sichuan opera on our own, but were given very little and confusing advice as to how and where to go - apart from the opera the hostel itself sponsors.
Thanks to all the friendly & very helpful staff!
Great to stay at when you are flying out early the next morning. They have free shuttles every hour to accommodate your schedule. Beds were perfect. Room was clean except for some ants that attacked the bananas we had in the room.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Only gripe was that our air con. broke the 2nd night in and wasn't fixed by the time we left (after the 3rd night). Breakfast was good, but does end by 9 a.m. so wake up early! Overall, very nice & relatively clean.
Very damp in the room. We also had rooms with no windows to the outside, so was very bland. Lots of spiders and mosquitos in the bathroom. Desk staff was nice but had limited English. Overall, I'd give it a C plus.
