Nice, comfortable stay. Good facilities and handy for shops and the metro. Staff v helpful, especially Sonja when I fell unwell! Thank you!
Lovely, easy hostel. Location fab, staff helpful and facilities and services provided great. I did a free walking tour, a trip to the fado and to Sintra and they were all great. Rooms comfy and each bed had own power point/reading light/locker. Thanks! Great stay :)
Phenomenal atmosphere. Staff were great, and the hostel is so good about getting us to the big clubs/parties. And even if you don't go there's still a good vibe left at the hostel. Breakfast and dinner every day were really good, and it was really fun to sit and eat dinner with everyone else. It's a very social place and fun, but so chill and welcoming - no judgment or pressure if you didn't want to go out or drink. Staff made us feel really safe when we went out. 3 bed private room was a palace

Absolutely amazing location - just a couple blocks from the gorgeous beach and one from the main street. Very loud - kareoke bar downstairs playing til 5am so bring earplugs. Nowhere near enough bathrooms - one combined toilet/shower for like 4 rooms with about 15 people. 10-11pm every night is ladies hour so free drinks!! Fab people staying there, but staff struggled to help us with transport.
Loved it here! Really excellent location and fab rooftop bar. Lovely and helpful staff. We all had a locker each and there were plenty of bathrooms - we had an ensuit for our 6 person room but there were also plenty of shared ones on the floor if ours was busy.
Pretty good hostel. Expensive, but it is SF. Security was good, it was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. My two issues would be breakfast - need more than just pancakes and oatmeal! I dislike oatmeal and got SO SICK of pancakes, and there was no reading light or power points or shelf at the beds. Having one or more of those 3 so improves a dorm room, but no luck. However it was a comfortable stay. Also, yay for wine and cheese night.

Absolutely fantastic location opposite Pike Place Market &within walking distance to almost everything! I didn't get any public transport except the train from the airport - which is close to the hostel too. Each bed had own power points &reading light which is awesome &most of the staff were very friendly - only one or two were frosty. Only real downside was that there weren't enough bathrooms on each floor - you always had to wait for shower/toilet in the morning. Would def stay here again.

The beds are a little odd (double bed sheets on single beds wrapped around - you lie on the sheet that wraps over you) but this is a really nice place. What made it were the staff - they were beyond excellent. Just so friendly and helpful beyond anywhere else I've stayed. It made it feel like staying with friends.
a pretty comfortable place in a great location. but note that if you go to the lobby/bar after midnight it's basically just a cloud of pot smoke, if that bothers you. i dont have any real complaints. the cleaning staff were a bit rude - came crashing in to change sheets and stuff and opened the curtains etc when 3 people were still sleeping. but otherwise a pretty good place.
Pretty comfortable hostel. Rooms big and nice, but you put your own sheets on and it's a flat sheet not a fitted which is hard on a top bunk! easy access to the metro, on a good line. The roof terrace is really nice!
Very nice and clean. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, even had a sink and big windows! One toilet on the floor was surprisingly not an issue, really. Some of the staff were fantastic, one or two a bit chilly, but still fine. A tad out of the way, but it's very easy to get into town on the tram and you can buy tickets at reception. There is a FANTASTIC restaurant nearby - Ublinu (or somehting like that) - ask the staff how to get there, it's epicly amazing. Recommended.
a nice place - great for arriving by train, not too long a walk into touristy area. new europe tours even pick up from here, which is good, or meet around the corner at the train station. epic lack of powerpoints in lobby for using the wifi is very annoying, though. rooms comfortable and quite nice.
Comfortable rooms, good breakfast, nice big white mansion. Otherwise, very expensive, and you have to pay for everything (ie, pay for lockers, £4/hr internet etc). Also, since it's so far out of town you need to get the bus, so add another £4 to each day (get a day rider- unlimited bus trips for less than cost of a return journey). So the location is annoying if you don't have a car, (get buses 15 or 18) but since there's nothing else in town except B&Bs it'll have to do.
Rooms were quite small and cramped, but the location is great, the staff nice and free breakfast and internet (if you have own laptop) help. Could do with more power points in rooms, though!
Nice chilled place. Clean, staff were friendly, fantastic location. A tad annoying that there were just 3 showers in the basement, but surprisingly wasn't an issue at all. Free breakfast is good to get! Lockers are small - byo lock.
A really nice place to stay! Rot is hilarious, and his tour (while expensive) is well worth it (do it on bikes!). Our room was up about a million stairs but we had a gorgeous balcony with a lovely view. The staff were always helpful and lovely and very accommodating when one of us was sick. Rot even took us out for dinner and dancing one night! They paid our taxi from Sinh Cafe and organised our trip out. Not a single bad thing to say. Also, great random decorations in garden and inside. STAY!
Mostly a really nice hotel, and our room was spacious and lovely, but there were a few issues. First, there was a mouse that ran around the computers in the lobby and the staff didn\'t care or clean the computers. Also, one receptionist seemed to really hate us and was always glaring and very unhelpful (even sided with a dodgy motorbike company across the road when they ripped us off). The other receptionist was mostly nice but a bit snappy sometimes. Both read books/online instead of helping.
This is a good, clean, nice place to stay - def recommended. It was in a good spot - walking distance everywhere - and it was relaxed and laid back. The hamock-style chairs on the terraces were excellent. The unlimited free beer between 5 and 6 was a nice touch. Just look around for tours - the hostel ones are quite expensive.
A nice, clean, lively place to stay. Very much of the party-party set, though. The DVD room is nice, the hot chips are really yummy and the beds are big and comfy. Location is pretty good, and the staff were helpful and friendly. I got sick and they were really really nice and helpful to me while I was recovering. A bit loud, but a good place to stay.
This place would have been great if the staff weren't so horrible. We didn't see a single smile from any of them, and they often made you feel like you were making their life really difficult by being there and asking questions. They made us feel very unwelcome and they merely deigned to help us. The food was only ok - big menu but don't have high expectations for quality. Rooms were big and spacious with lockers (though room doors were left open all the time) and the beds were comfortable.
We loved loved loved our stay here. It's about an hours walk into town, but that's fine because most of what we wanted to do was about the country - Yangshuo itself is very touristy and loud. The Outside Inn was gorgeous, quiet (only birdsounds!) and Nadine and Mike are so friendly and helpful. You can hire bikes easily, the staff are friendly and helpful (Wendy is a champion) and the two little dogs are so adorable. It almost broke our hearts to leave.
It was pretty quiet when we were there - low season - so it's a bit hard to judge fun and character and such, but it was still good. We met some great people and could relax in the bamboo bar or watch a dvd etc. They booked some tours for us to the rice terraces and a cruise to Yangshuo which were good. It was a nice place to stay!
Our favourite hostel for sure. We loved it from the moment we stepped inside - the garden is so nice and the rooms lovely. We met great people in the bar/restaurant and on the fun panda tour. We had a fantastic time in the sichuan cooking class, and Sim is such a nice guy. He gave us free coffee, carried BOTH our big backpacks down the road and hailed us a taxi to get to the train station. We both agreed we want to come back to Chengdu JUST to stay here. Definitely recommended.
Fantastic. Stay here. Really, do it. Great for meeting people, comfortable rooms with lockers (and locks) provided, good location, friendly and helpful staff, great food (though not a lot of chinese food). The bar downstairs is good too and has stuff going on all the time like live music and trivia (which we won and got 250RMB free drinks!). The bar and restaurant are also a hangout for locals and expats so it has a great atmosphere. We honestly can\'t think of anything bad. STAY HERE!!!
We also stayed in a dorm room, which was really big though the shower meant that the entire floor got wet and dirty but it was fine. The mattresses were also much harder than the private. The staff are mostly extremely helpful (Candy was really good!) and there was a bloke with great english who was really helpful, too. We did have one very frustrating morning arguing with them about breakfast which made us quite angry, really, but otherwise they are good. Breakfast is expensive for what it is.
We split our stay here - in a private room then a dorm. The private room was nice, clean, comfortable and had a good shower. The desk staff almost all spoke good english, and if they didn't there was always a staff member at the desk who did. The location is really good, about 5mins from the metro and about 7mins from Tienanmen Square. It's definitely a hotel, though, not a hostel. It's very bad if you want to meet other backpackers. There were only french school groups there when we were.
Well located by East Railway Station, clean, big rooms. However, it can be difficult to communicate with the staff as their english is limited. They do try very hard to fulfil your needs, but it can take a bit of explaining. The hallways and lobby are also really really cold in winter. Restaurant is cheap, but opening hours seem to be whenever they feel like it.
