Hostel Old Plovdiv

Plovdiv, Bulgaria
100%

One of the best hostels I have ever been to. More like a hotel but still intimate and cozy with all the antique furniture etc. The staff is helpful and sympathetic. The hostel is in the very heart of historical Plovdiv but you find it easily from the modern main street. By car it is a bit harder as there is only one entry into the old town. One of the many nice details was a special heater in the bathroom. If they want to be even more perfect, they could consider upgrading to thicker curtains :)

Good place in the very heart of Varna. The staff was helpful and the really colourful interior unique. I guess the artistic shabbiness is part of the brand. Many reviewers have complained about the shower plus toilet combination (everything gets wet), but as there are several bathrooms, the problem can be resolved by using only one of them for having shower.

Nice hostel in superb town. Helpful staff, good breakfast, basic okay dorm room. Central in the old town but possibly hard to locate if you're coming from the modern town. In the winter, the unheated spaces, e.g. toilets and bathrooms, get pretty cold, but this is how it seems to work in Bulgaria. The only real problem is, however, that in the dorm there are no curtains that would hinder the lovely morning sun from shining in at seven. In general, very good value for money.

Good place, helpful staff, breakfast simply excellent. The following is about the single room that is actually located in an apartment about 100 m away, in Alabin street. As a whole, the room was nice though the bed was a bit hard. The problem was, however, that Alabin street is used by several tram lines. This, together with the fact that Bulgarians don't like curtains, made me wake up at 6 o'clock when the trams began to operate. But if you are a good sleeper, don't hesitate to book this room!

Good location (use public transport), excellent breakfast, POD beds in the dorms nice but there are still problems with them. At St Christopher's Canal Inn, the problem was that the under-bed lockers creaked; at Gare du Nord they have fixed this, but here the curtains make a terrible noise when pulled; the beds also shudder when someone rolls over. The showers worked well but the bathrooms were ill-smelling and could be cleaner; the cleaners a bit halfhearted. I recommend the online check-in.

Soggiorno Michelangelo

Very clean and very comfortable: maybe the best B&B’s I’ve ever stayed at. The owners are most friendly and helpful and know everything about Florence. The breakfast is an Italian one with wholemeal toast and cheese. Practically the only problem is that you can hear the other guests talking in the corridor. Besides, there could be some pegs on the wall for coats. About the location: the area is nice and quiet, but be prepared to walk a lot or take a bus. Nevertheless, excellent value for money!

Excellent value for money, well-equipped kitchen, clean showers, very good location near the U-Bahn station – but actually you don’t need public transport, because the central sights are really within walking distance. The only problem is that the rooms are small and without any ventilation. That’s why it gets extremely hot at night, which is not eased by the fact that the blanket seemed to be of synthetic fibre. Besides, I hope that the owner remembers to change the door code every now and then

We stayed only for one night, so we cannot say much about the place. On the whole, everything was working and looked new. The shower and the toilet inside the dorm room were clean. The curtain in front of the window was however practically transparent, so the room bathed in light in the morning. Besides, there was a noisy roadway nearby. Btw, the railway station is not so close to the hostel as you might imagine.

The location is good: in the Medina and near to the train station. Clean and new, although they didn't clean the room or empty the dust bin during our stay. Nobody seemed to speak (or understand) English. The wi-fi is good but works only near the reception. No breakfast. Good value for money, however. Btw, ask the remote control for the air conditioning - it's free. The next-door Restaurant du Peuple is great.

A nice and quiet room near to the bus and train stations. Very clean and new. The owner was extremely kind and helpful and went to meet us at the bus station. She also wrote us an email beforehand to know our arrival time. Btw, if you are going to take a morning boat from Trapani with Grimaldi ferries, don't go to the terminal at 6 am as they insist. Their desk opens only at 8 am.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and clean. However, the wi-fi didn't work everywhere. The breakfast was a good Italian breakfast but don’t expect a full meal. The coffee comes from an automate. These are, however, only minor problems and the place offers excellent value for money. I’ll warmly recommend this place.

Good value for money, very clean, good location, excellent wifi. The owner was friendly and helpful, though we had some communicational problems, both in Italian and in English. The breakfast is not only the sweet Italian one, but there are also cheese and salami on the table. The only major difficulty was the organisation of the breakfast: the room was almost completely filled by the table and a needless sofa. They had better move the sofa somewhere else. And, of course, the property is a bit cramped in ot

Extremely clean and cozy. The best thing was the well equipped kitchen. The rooms may have been a bit chill, but this is the case everywhere in Italy in February. (Btw at least on the 2nd floor, there was a decent shower box in the bathroom.) If the owner wanted to do something more to get 100% reviewings, he/she could develop the breakfast.

A clean, nice and functional - and professionally run - hostel. I lived in a 12-person dorm and felt comfortable even there. The curtains in front of the beds are a great thing as they give you some privacy, so if there had been curtains also over the upper beds and if they had been half a meter wider, I would have given the hostel 100%.

A good hostel with a perfect location between the Hauptbahnhof and the centre of the old town. In general, everything worked properly. They seemed to have problems with the lights though. A tip for the staff (which were nice and helpful): a free wifi is a norm in the Central European hostels today.

Not very bad, not very good. This is a place for you if you arrive late or leave early in the morning by train, because the hostel is so near to the Hauptbahnhof. May be that it was an exception due to the Saturday night but at least my dorm room seemed to be a place where the underaged gathered to booze as they were not let in to any bar. However, the next night was much quieter. The staff was very helpful.

Very clean and peaceful place next to Parque metro station. It's more like a home with breakfast thingies available in the kitchen &c. The only problem is that it's easy to walk past the hostel as there is nothing but the number 80. Press the button with text LSH.

A functional hostel with a good location and helpful staff. The curtains over the beds give you some privacy even in the dorms. The breakfast was nice, too. The only problems were with the lockers under the beds: they don't lubricate them so they screech terribly (like the doors as well!) and even though they say that you can bring your own padlock for the lockers, you really need a huge padlock (at least 5 cm) to get the locker closed.

The staff was very helpful and nice. Unfortunately, the place was difficult to find and the road leading there (Via degli Olivi) was extremely narrow and tricky to drive.
