Stayed here through Carnival. Suitable if want quiet, peaceful place amongst nature. Near national park and has own gadens, pretty location. The hill to hostel is rather steep and took us 1/2 hour o get to the centre square of Ouro Preto and we didnt find out where the local bus stop is before the hill so had to walk it each time. Taxi 20 Reals. Staff helpful and always available. kitchen and bathroom simple, two gas rings only.

Located close to the beach. Have to be buzzed through via reception and there are lockers available per person in each room large enough for a back pack.Supply own lock.Breakfast of bread, fruit, cheese, ham, juice.Socialising area.Mostly Spanish speaking guests then(dont speak Spanish),so affected the atmosphere and socialising for me. Quiet street.Book exchange.

I stayed during the week&didn't spend much time at the hostel which is why i have rated the atmosphere as 'average'. The staff I met were really friendly&informative. Big kitchen, lots seating&equipt with everything you may need. Bedding was clean, but room could have done with a dusting/wipe. it had its own bathroon, but the floor was concrete and smelt like wet trainers. It didnt bother us, but worth noting for others in a review.Id go back!

We went in the colder, less busy months and the less busy half of the week,so there were not many guests. It is busier wed-sun.Not alot of 'atmosphere' due to this.Rooms and facilities appear to be cleanbut dated and worn. Took less than 10mins to walk to the town square, location good. Supermarket 2 mins up the road. Kitchen has half fridge/half freezer, good size a microwave and 2 hob rings. Decent amount of cupbpard space but not alot for food prep, so may be hard to prep food in busier months
