This is one of the best positioned hostels, literally 50 metres from the pier, and very close to two excellent beaches. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and come with a socket and reading light. Lockers are provided, but you need your own lock. You get a 10% discount at the worthwhile reef bar across the road, which also does great food. Staff are very helpful and easy going, and the scooter rental is very reasonable. Just be aware that key and linnen deposit is high (2000 baht)
Excellent staff and the owners are great people. The hostel has a great lively spirit and very easy to meet people. The locatation isn't too bad, but the area itself doesn't have much going on We stayed in a private double, which was very large but needed a bit of cleaning. Air con was excellent. The private taxi back to the airport was VERY expensive (400 baht) for a 10 minute journey.
Gina the owner is fantastic and a really lovely lady who takes time to learn the name of her guests. She can also book any activities or travel arrangements you need around Chiang Mai. Room was clean and had good showers and wifi access. Hostel is a bit away from the night market and the more cultural centers of Chiang Mai, but you can walk there in about 20 minutes. If coming from the airport, it wouldn't harm to ask for the address in Thai before you go and give this to the driver.
Fantastic hostel with great staff. Rooms are spotless and well furnished, with wifi access everywhere. You can get food/drinks in the hostel and it has a 24 hour reception. Easily accessible from the airport via the bts train system. A bit away from the grand palace and Wat Pho areas, but close to Siam square. Stayed here a second time when I was back in Bangkok and would recommend.
You'll know it's near the train station, but keeping the windows closed at night should help. Lots of character and atmosphere, with friendly and helpful staff. As it's situated in an old pub, you also get a discount at the bar. Beds could be better and not all facilities in the kitchen worked. Showers were often cold, but if you go when they're not in demand you'll have a better chance.
Brilliant hostel with warm and friendly staff. Just be careful about the directions posted. I would recommend getting a map/picture of the local area to avoid un-necessary wandering when trying to find it. Location is well situated, wifi works well and they have free dinners on Mondays!
Fantastic hostel, and one I returned to after a previous visit. Extremely clean, excellent facilities including the best pillows I've slept on. I also recommend you go for the breakfast in the mornings. A mountain of delicious food that will keep you going throughout the day.
A brilliant hostel and a great place to stay in Frankfurt. Friendly staff, very cheap bar and lots of activities each night.
Nice place, but the bed was so small, I couldn't fit into it properally. I had to curl up like a ball to stop hitting the edges.
Well situated in georgetown, but make sure you get the right bus. The building has great character and rooms are clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Rooms have no key, but lockers are available for valuables.
Great hostel with wonderful staff. Very helpful and they take the time to learn people's names. The only complaint I could make is that the showers lose water pressure when more than one person uses them.
I can't fault the security, I was asked to prove I was staying in the hostel on four separate occasions, during a two night stay. I stayed in a four bed mixed which was comfortable and had lockers. Kitchen is a little grubby, but I expect that's from the high volume of visitors. You can't pay by card unless your booking is AU$100 or more, so make sure to bring cash if it's going to be less than this. Luggage storage facilities are also available
Beware, this hostel will charge you extra for booking through hostelworld. They said that since hostel world takes a cut, they have to put up prices. There is also a 2.5% credit card fee. In the end, If you want to go, book through their website instead. Hostel is kept clean, and each bed has it's own locker. Strangely, the beds are assigned directly, so you might be on a top bunk, when a bottom is free. Rooms are a bit tight on space for bags etc. Kitchen is small but well equiped. Washing is very expensi
A very nice hostel, but one thing that drove me mad was the industrial type airvents in the rooms. Those on the higher floor are especially bad, and were turned on even at night when it was already cold. The staff were happy to turn them down, but when I woke up I had already started to get sick. Otherwise it's the same high standard that you would expect from the YHA hostels, with friendly and helpful staff, free luggage storage, free open air films and a swimming pool. It's also excellently positioned , a
Excellent staff who take time to learn the names of everyone staying there, and are always extremely helpful and friendly. Free fast wifi, or computers at reception. Courtesy bus to and from town throughout the day, or a twenty mintue walk. The whole area is kept very clean each day. Also free meal vouchers for the woolshed. If I go back to Cairns again, I will definitely return to here.
Excellent staff, and close to the town and the hill overlooking the town. Rooms range from basic to luxurious, but the building is currently undergoing a complete renovation due to new ownership. Staff make the effort to learn your name, and sit down with the guests in the evening. As time goes on, this hostel will improve significantly.
Excellent hostel. Free internet, and close to the beach. Excellent facilities and the staff took the time to learn the name of everyone who was staying there. It's a small touch but one that made all the difference. I would definitely stay here again.
Backpackers was undergoing renovations at the time, and is a bit out of the way from the town, but is right beside the beach. Staff were excellent, and there are promotions on every night. Also free wifi was excellent and not slow, despite lots of people using it. Complimentary pickup to and from the bus station
Best facilities in the room of any backpacker I've been in. Extremely clean and well maintained. Lots of activities to do each day, and superbly situated in the rocks.
Very clean, with friendly and helpful staff. let me stay and use the facilities for the rest of the day after i checked out. They can also book/organise almost anything for you. The only downside would be the matresses which were very thin and soft. They warped under my body weight easily.
A very unusual hostel. When i arrived, I had to wait an hour before someone would check me in. Later on, they moved my stuff to another room when I was away, so I came back to find someone else in my bed and a note saying I was in the new room. Unfortunately i didn't have any way to get into the room, so I had to knock on the door and wake everyone up. The Japanese girls who work there are great fun and really nice! The location is about 15-20 minutes walk from the town, but a long way if you're walking t
Spacious kitchen and free wifi throughout the building, which is great. Rooms are a bit more expensive than usual. They allow you to check out late at no extra cost though. Also, nicely positioned near all the main attactions, but a bit away from the train station.
A bit out of the way from the city centre, so you would want to get a taxi or supershuttle if you're carrying a lot of bags. Rooms didn't come with duvets/blankets, so sleeping bags were necessary. Open garden design, with three houses. No one communal area. Lacked games etc for playing. Not too bad, but would have at least expected sheets.
Well situated and at a compulsory stop for all intercity buses. Rooms are very clean, but internet is strictly through global gossip. Friendly and helpful staff, and lots of games for people to play in the common room.
A hostel with free Wifi! Excellent Staff, but about 10min away from the central strip in town. Great deals for people who stay, including money off events, free bike hire etc, depending on how long you're there for. Highly recommended!
Excellent staff, but about 25 minutes walk from the town centre itself, a long way when you are carrying heavy bags. Slightly more expensive than usual, but very clean and has a video room.
Great fun with free Chocolate pudding every night. A bit outside of the town, but you can walk there in about 10 minutes. Safe and secure, with lots of friendly people. Also 100mb free WiFi which is a great bonus.
Great 1930's art deco hostel, with spacious and well equiped rooms. Cheap washing and drying facilities, huge kitchen and living area. Bit quiet when i was there though. Expensive internet.
A great backpackers, well situated near the lake. Very helpful and friendly staff, cheap drinks at the bar, video room and kept very clean. Unfortunately most rooms don't have plugs (en suites do), and the kitchen closes at 22:00! If you can get past this, then recommended
Fantastic staff who will do everything they can to help improve your stay, and make the special effort to learn everyone's name. Very clean and safe, but also very quiet when I was there, but picked up towards the end of the week. Rooms are a bit short on storage space, so it's a bit of a squeeze when full.
Excellent Backpackers, with spacious and clean facilities. Very easy to meet people, and positioned only a few mintues from the beach and cafes. As per the norm, internet is not free at $4 for the hour. Had a great time here, and sorry to leave.
A great hostel, well positioned for easy access to town and Mt Eden. Easy to meet people and a nice large kitchen. WiFi is not free however, as in most of NZ, so plan accordingly.
Close enough to walk to the main sites without too much hassle, very close to metro. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and staff were very helpful.
One of the best hostels I've ever been in. Brilliant fun and excellent staff. Next time I'm back in Kyoto, I'm definitely going here.
