Hostel Ani & Haakien Rotterdam

Rotterdam, Netherlands

Great hostel, one of the best I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in hundreds. Staff are great, common areas set up to meet others, bathrooms modern and clean. The beds are cozy and so is the kitty. As a solo traveller this is the perfect hostel - I made friends in less than 10 minutes. Group activities aren't like stuffy tours but more like hanging with friends. Will make sure I come back again one day and highly recommend to visitors to Rotterdam!

More like a hotel with dorm rooms than a hostel. Good location close to the midi station and city centre - even if a little sketchy at night it's convenient. Staff were friendly but not so easy to meet people in common areas. Would recommend for groups or as a place to just sleep rather than a social experience.

There were only two staff members who were nice. Everyone else was rude. You can't take your own food and had to buy their microwaved cuisines and drinks are well overpriced. Beds are squeaky and uncomfortable and you had to wait for 7 other people to shower and primp before you could use the bathroom. Lots of sneaky charges and zero atmosphere. Not recommended for solo travellers.

Nice homely hostel. Not much going on but great breakfast and cosy beds with plenty of power points for charging your items.

Amazing hostel for a great price. The staff were amazing especially the Asian girl who went out of her way even when not working to help guests! Booked for one night and stayed for 12. Have recommended to others and you should definitely stay.

Not great but hostels in London are all overpriced and underwhelming - like London itself really... Pool type showers were a big turn off but seem common. Stay near Edgware road in a cheaper pub conversion where there's a real atmosphere.

Downstairs in the reception/common area it smalls like raw sewage constantly as do the bathrooms. Free breakfast is alright and location is great. Strange crowd.

Like all other reviews, V is amazing! Great place to meet others, good location. It's like being at a friends house. Will recommend to all and stay again if in Chiang mai but make sure you book! Beds go fast and the other hostels they own are not the same.

Cancelled booking when I couldn't check in until after 3pm... Even though my bed was ready and I offered to pay an extra night. Ridiculous - after a night bus from Bangkok I was ruined. Went across the road to a better place.

Great place for solo travellers to meet others. Not a quiet hostel so don't book here if you want to sleep early/rise early. Great location for all things backpacker. No privacy in bathrooms at all. 22 bed dorms are partitioned so they feel smaller. Staff during the day are not the greatest but the ladies at the food stall out front are amazing. Had a crazy good time here met some amazing people would return if in bangkok!

Had a nice time here. Alex and Vee were amazing and made the stay in Chang Mai great. Also loved The little dog! Have recommended to everyone heading to Chang Mai. Bathrooms had no privacy but it was quiet while I was there so no problems. Ask Alex to take you to the cabaret it's a must see!

Blanco Beach Bar

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand

Met some awesome people here so great for solo travellers. Rooms are hot and loud and beds are hard. But koh phi phi is a party island so if you want to sleep stay in a resort. Most of the staff were awesome except the guys who organised the shot challenge. They were rude and made all the guests uncomfortable with their attitudes and the way the treated guests. Toilets smell but there are much worse in Asia. Food at the bar is good and The owner is great. Right in the middle of the beach partie

Really good hostel. Great location and easy access to all the best parts of Melbourne. Everything super clean and modern. Pillows were a bit rubbish but it is a hostel so can't expect luxury. Rooms were nice with big windows, heaters, tv. Staff were friendly and enjoyed what they did. Common areas felt spread out and there seemed to be a lot of long term guests which isn't a bad thing but they can seem cliquey. You can still easily talk to them though so no issue there either. Would recommend.

Loki Backpackers La Paz

Most of the bar staff spent their time chatting to each other at the end of the bar rather than serving guests and with the exception of two people were not very friendly or attentive. Food was generally good and the bar later at night was good. We had a problem with our room and they changed us straight away without hassle. TV room was great but a little uncomfortable but the beds were comfortable and warm.

Most of the staff spent their time chatting to each other at the end of the bar rather than serving guests, There were only two that were helpful and attentive. We had a problem in the room and the reception was quick to change us to another room which was great. Movie room is good but uncomfortable and bar later at night is definitely a party place if thats what you are after. Pretty nice food also.

With the exception of te lady on Morning reception staff were not very helpful or nice. Lady making breakfast especially rude. Expensive and all extras are also really expensive (day of check in they asked for $25 for breakfast!). Pool was dirty and closed half of the time we were there and most things are within quite a long walking distance so you have to get taxis around mostly. Nice rooms and hot showers though.

Really nice hostel with great views from the terrace. Long term guests very inviting to new visitors. Only staff member and owner Mike keeps everything spotless. Amazing kitchen facilities and great location close to the market, supermarket, main square and bars/cafes. Nice place to meet other travellers. Sometimes getting a shower in the morning can be hard as there are only two showers but is a small hostel so not too much of a hassle. Great place to hang out in Sucre for while.

Hostel was empty so hard to be entirely fair. Unless you speak fluent Spanish it's hard to meet people. Mould on walls in bathroom and mouldy shower curtain which sticks to you as you shower. Very noisy bar next door with people yelling on the street 3am each morning so not good for sleeping. Not really any activities within the hostel and breakfast was poor. Staff were nice enough and helpful when asked. Was recommended by previous hostel but will not recommend to others.
