It was written "the worst hostel in the world" on the wall in our bedroom. Although that's surely not true, it's the worst one I have ever stayed in. We paid about 40 € for a room for two and it was definitely not worth the price. We arrived late and exhausted just to find we had to make our own beds! Paying 40 €! The location is good, the room very basic and the school-looking bathrooms are okay, although the light was not working in the hallways. Creepy.
We stayed in a room for two with a private bathroom. The room was simple, but good. The bed was too short for my 195 cm tall friend, but for me it was fine. The girl working there was really nice and it was easy to get in touch with the staff when they were off duty. Our bathroom was shabby and it was quite a dread taking a shower and one day there was no hot water. But the standard of the shared bathroom was way better. The air condition was really, really effective, loved it! Good location.
The hotel was clean and the room was big and looked nice. A cute little touch were the towels on the bed formed as a heart/two swans upon arrival. The staff was extremely helpful, calling and ordering whichever guided tours we wanted. The only setbacks were that the fridge in the room was not really cold and there was no way to adjust it and the air condition consisted of a tower fan which was not efficient enough for hot summer nights, making it hard to sleep properly. But otherwise, fantastic!
The hotel is a 10-15 minutes walk from the railway station, but it is a bit hard to find and it is creepy getting there after sunset. The hotel is rather expensive for Bratislava, but the room itself was clean and of good standard. A big problem was that the upper floor was like a sauna, even during the night when it was chilly outside. We could not sleep properly, which was a problem. You have to pay city tax unless you bring signed papers from the university, a student card isnt enough.
