Terra Brasilis Hostel

This hostel is on top of a big hill. Do not make the mistake as we did of trying to haul your luggage all the way up by yourself. It will cost R$10 to get up to the hostel by taxi from Lapa but it is worth the hour effort climbing stone streets. Location is close to Lapa and centro, and has a great view from up high. The staff is very hippie so no soap, and you have to wash your own plates at breakfast. No American outlets. Best for a single night stay

Located in the center of the small town, right off the two famous roads lined with shops. There's an Italian restaurant with delicious lasagnia in front. We got a private room. Everything was clean, but lots of Mosquitos because of the proximity to the sea. The shower isn't too warm since they have a nozzle heater for hot water. Everything else is pretty decent.

Very convenient location, a block away from the beach, in Lebron, which is the wealthiest part of Rio. Staff is very helpful regarding places to go at night, food, etc. If you need to get there you should contact the hostel for a ride, which should be cheaper than if you took a cab.
