Bunk Backpackers

Good place, its close to Fortitude Valley food/shops/bars/clubs and train station. stayed in a 4 bed room with ensuite, each bed has a light/power socket and is partitioned from the other set of bunks so a bit more private. shouldn't have to pay for wifi at a hostel ($4 a day) but thats an issue in oz and nz generally, good for young people and good big kitchen if you want to self cater

Sunflower Place Silom

It's a hotel, but for the same price as a hostel you get a large room and own bathroom which after living in hostels is bliss. Everything of a good standard, towels and soap supplied, nothing special but it's clean, well maintained, quiet, has helpful pleasant staff, free water/tea/coffee/milo and in a great location for shopping, food and night clubs - a 2minute stroll away from Patpong market/Silom st.

Get rid of the triple high bunks for a start, they're all welded together so that when any one of 9 people move on their bed it shakes everyone else. Its just demoralising to live in a room like that. Making people pay for every little thing and jamming too many people in a room means the hostel is making way more cash at the expense of the traveller but its not reflected in the facilities, so this place is a pure rip off, dirty, smelly, cramped, overpriced, worst hostel so far, book elsewhere

Hostel MOJO

Nice place, single well spaced beds instead of bunks in the room make it feel more modern and less lie you're at school camp like most other hostels. Staff are very helpful and really nice and you can get in to the place 24hours with security. Lots of room to put your things and a locker under the bed that you need a padlock for but can fit a large bag. Excellent location near the main tourist square, food places and convenient to get to trams and subway. Bathrooms were modern and clean.

Nice clean place, good pool - you need it in Cairns, and close enough to walk to lagoon, i had a private room, comfy bed, aircon, clean showers, seems more upmarket than the backpacker places but same price,

Samesun Venice Beach

no wifi which is pretty standard anywhere else in the world, not even a computer to pay for internet, rooms are fine, lockers in room were large enough to put laptops and small bags. very small common area, well overpriced for nothing much but theres few options in LA and venice, whole beach is on curfew after 9pm so nothing is open nearby, but during the day if its sunny venice is cool to hang out

total top spot to be in miami beach, really organised hostel, lots to do any day of the week, small rooms, our bathroom had a blocked drain in the shower but the room was fine with AC, hostel is great location two blocks from the beach, staff are professional and fun, good spot to hang out, young travellers type of hostel,

basic hotel but all you need for the price. nice bed, ensuite, small tv. the room is small but fine and gets cleaned everyday, close to the Chapinero area and 3 blocks from the Transmil (metro) stop calle 63 which is handy to get anywhere. was good for a couple nites stay. not close to the main tourist areas/accom, but there are loads of nightclubs nearby mostly for locals and gay scene.

El Viajero Cartagena Hostel

Cartagena, Colombia

Good hostel for a short stay in Cartagena - a hostel to socialise, nice layout so you can chill outside, tv room, nice dining area, wifi was fast enough, no a/c in the common areas and they only turn it on in the room from 8pm -11am but will switch it on if you ask, it's hot in Cartagena so a/c is kinda necessary if you want to sleep or not sweat thru your clothes. there are big lockers under your bed but not quite big enuf to fit your whole bag.

It's clean, spacious and has an amazing view of the harbour/plaza from the balconies, it's right next to an old castle and only a street away from the bus terminal and a supermarket with 5 mins walk. The staff are really helpful and hardworking, beds were comfortable and well made, kitchen was large and functional. i couldn't connect to the wifi on my macbook so I used the free wifi at starbucks. Totally worth the rate. to find the reception go in green iron door and take elevator to 5th floor

Sin City Hostel

Las Vegas, USA

the bare minimums of hostels, try another - not sure if any in vegas will be better tho, the beds are homemade from plywood with cheap foam mattress, there seems to be more "staff" than guests and they are constantly using the lounge room/tv like their own home, the limo tour is fun for about 5 minutes until you end up at a dump of a bar miles away from the strip, this hostel reminded me why i dont like hostels, goodbye hostel world, never again.

this is a nice hotel, its close to the malls and union square, the room was clean, the share bathrooms were always clean. there are definitely a lot of local people/characters who stay here, perhaps because it is inexpensive, i found it convenient and adequate for a few good nights, Kyle on reception was really helpful and friendly.

ok so i really wanted to give this place a good review - great bathroom, rooms were big light and cleaned every day by a nice girl and great location, problem was the last night i was there i woke and there were weird worm like bugs in the bed, freaked me out, i changed bunks but it was the worst sleep ever, duno what they were i just couldnt get out of there quick enough, i told them about it and asked for my money back and they gave it, i hope they fix this problem in an otherwise nice place

Farah Guesthouse

was a good experience, close to everything awesome location, room is small, just a bed and chair but why sit at home when so close to everything, was a great price the days i booked, cheaper than a dorm bunk but private and in a cool poky, dutch style house. staff member Ali provided great service and was very helpful. would stay again for the cheaper price, bargain. note: thin winding stairs to get to rooms and it's all packed into a quite small space.

Penzy Guesthouse

cool little guest house, very helpful owners, they booked a motorbike for me which was great and necessary no matter where you stay in Samui. there was loud music from a nearby club at weekends, but was informed about it when i arrived and was offered another room, it didnt bother us as we were partying late but if you\'re not i suggest the rooms at the back of the hostel.
