Sleepers Sleep Cheaper Hostel

Monteverde, Costa Rica

The owners of SSC are what set this place apart. They were happy to explain all the different tour options and didn't push one company over another. They made breakfast each morning as well. When my girlfriend and I got food poisoning one day, they allowed us to make a last-minute decision to stay an extra night and also cooked our ramen noodles for us. Great people! The room itself was nice, good size, comfortable bed, lumpy pillows. Street noise is loud during the day, but great location!

Arenal Backpackers Resort

La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Overall, my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at ABR. Our room was clean and the bathrooms were very clean, the pool was cleaned daily. Property is gated and is a short, well-lit walk into La Fortuna. Lounge area was pretty nice and a great place to meet others each evening, however there is a very limited amount of food/drink available for purchase as implied by the hostel description. Also, A/C in our room did not work and you could feel the springs in the mattress. Would stay again.

Firehouse Hostel

Austin, USA

Overall, Firehouse was a fantastic hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the lounge was a nice touch, and the location was clutch. Beds were comfortable (though pillows were really flat) and in-room lockers were available for those who remembered to bring locks. Will definitely stay again on my next trip to Austin.

Hostel on 3rd

San Diego, USA

Myself and three friends stayed for a weekend and this hostel met our needs perfectly. Location was great if you want to be near Gaslamp Quarter, beds were comfortable, and bathrooms clean. The lounge area was pretty small but they had a large (though disconnected) lounge area downstairs. Only issue was parking since we drove to San Diego, but we were lucky enough to find metered spots right outside the hostel door and only ended up paying for 4 hours of parking the whole weekend.

The Palace Hostel

San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Palace Hostel was a decent find, the immediate area seemed safe and the hostel itself was well kept and quiet. Rooms were tiny, however. Bathrooms weren't as disgusting as some other reviews suggest, but they aren't as clean as the one you keep in your home either.

Hostel ELF

Prague, Czech Republic

The hostel was very clean and lively. Employees were very helpful and knowledgeable. Hostel is about a 20-minute walk from Old Town, but it is a safe and managable walk.

Kabul Backpackers Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

Very clean, breakfast was worth waking up for, the hostel organized some pretty good bar trips. However, the hostel shut down their lounge after midnight, so it was not possible to spend your night there. Also, they only allowed 20 minutes of internet use every day.
