Hostel Solar dos Romanos

Stayed during the World Cup, so obviously you a high price for almost basic amenities. Aside from that, the location was great, right in the Pelourinho, and surpisingly quiet despite the noise level outside. Breakfast was included (bread, ham, cheese, cake,...), and bed and bathroom were clean, albeit basic. Staff were friendly, however would have appreciated more of an introduction to the hostel. Sometimes staff would smoke inside the main reception area.

Good location, near metro station. Decent breakfast with cereal, toast and fruits. Organized daily activities, and an onsite travel agent makes booking for tours, travels, etc. much easier. Can get quite noisy at night with parties going on in the main lobby area.

We stayed in a twin private with bathroom, and paid a reasonable price. Clean and secure. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Hue Backpackers Hostel

(+) Paul greeted me upon arrival and makes an attempt to remember your name. The local staff are equally amazing, very friendly, fun, helpful and always smiling. Great place to meet many other backpackers. Free beer from 5-6pm. Cool and relaxed atmosphere, located minutes away from Perfume River. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. (-) The only real negative point was not enough electrical outlets in the rooms. It would be great if each bed had its own outlets.
