Sandor is a great host and really does everything he can to deserve his top ratings! He upgraded us for free to an en suite room that was beautifully decorated with our own private balcony. He speaks perfect english and knows EVERYTHING about budapest. I would fully recommend this hostel!
We had a great time at Freeborn hostel, Raoul is a great guy who speaks perfect english and is really willing to help you out. There are also a lot of volunteers around the hostel who are friendly and like to take the whole group out when they can. It's a very sociable place, definitely good for young single people - but can feel a little cliquey at times!
The hostel is actually a homestay rather than a hostel which makes it far for immersive in the culture and enjoyable as a traveller! Eugene's mother Marta lives there and is very helpful - she shows you how to use things and tidies up after you! We had a really lovely stay here in a bedroom full of character with access to a lounge area. We really felt at home here more than anywhere on our trip! I would recommend this hostel whole heartedly, especially as it won't be around for much longer!
Marius is a great guy who speaks perfect english and is really happy to help with all manner of things! Our room was really beautifully decorated and we also had a balcony which was fantastic. The communal areas are all really cosy as you might expect from the name of the hostel and all in all we had a really lovely stay here. The building itself is a little surprising on the outside and the lift is tiny and somewhat terrifying the first couple of times but the hostel itself I cannot fault!
Unfortunately as the building is very old the bathroom begins to smell later in the day and only gets worse overnight. This made it difficult to sleep and impossible to relax or feel clean in the entire room. The woman on reception was however very friendly and helpful, vastly improving our stay.
Ribbon Stayyz is in a great location in chinatown surrounded by street stalls full of food. The staff were so friendly and make a great effort to learn your names and are very helpful without being pushy orhaving agendas. They let us borrow things like towels and DVDs and the lounge area was very sociable. The room was small and basic but had everything we needed. Only problem we had was the noise; the room was single glazed above a large roundabout.
