Good location, comfy bed and friendly staff. The kitchen is well equipped but not big enough for staff to be preparing waffle mix for the next morning at 8pm when everyone is making tea! Shared bathrooms could do with more regular checks. Would stay again.

Okay for a night or two but its grotty and run down. Kitchen area is no where near big enough. However it is in a good location but you can find better hostels in the same area for a similar price.

Excellent value for money, so cheap with no hidden extras. Great place if you are on a tight budget. Bit far up from the main strip but 24 hour bus passes are cheap and easy so its not a problem. All staff were friendly, in particular the English girl at reception! Had our own room (this means a 6 bed dorm and en suite to yourself) and it was clean with lockers. Book in advance if you're going at the weekend!

Good place to stay if you want to be in Hollywood. Friendly staff, decent kitchen, free wifi and lots of tours and activities on offer. However could do with a communal bathroom or two, as waiting for a shower in the morning was a bit of a pain. Would stay again.

Thanks for the kind comments and feedback. Regarding communal bathrooms, we do have 2, one of which has a shower in it. They are both in the lounge (a little odd i know, but it's still private). We'll point them out when you come back to visit again! If you're headed to San Fran, our hostel there has both ensuite rooms and shared bath rooms with plenty of showers and toilets available on each floor.

Good kitchen but not enough bathrooms, some of which need a revamp. Ideal location with shops, bars and good transport links. Friendly staff apart from one guy who we had to wake up as he was asleep being the desk in the early morning, and was then quite rude as if we had necessarily disturbed him! Would stay again though.

Lamrock Lodge on Bondi Beach

On arrival we were told by reception they were not sure if our room had been cleaned and on inspection nor were we! The room was grotty, had sand all over the floor, the linen was ripped and didn't fit the mattress. The kitchen is a bit on the small side and could do with a few more pans. However, the location of the hostel is great for the beach, the showers near our room were good and we had a cable TV and a fridge in our room. Lamrock Lodge just need to focus on cleanliness as its v.rundown!

Good, clean rooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped but needs lids on the bins to keep flies to a minimum. Staff are friendly and the free shuttle bus into town is handy as it is a bit of a trek. The only downside was that the wifi didn't work at all during our 4 night stay. Would stay there again.

For two nights there were cockroaches in and around our beds. The staff at reception told us they needed to see them before anything was done, they did say we could move rooms but during our time in the lobby another couple were complaining of ants in their room. The kitchen is no where near big enough to cope with the size of the hostels and is poorly equipped. During our 4 nights we had to eat with spoons as there were about 3 forks. Poor location.

Thanks for the Review! We've just purchased a million forks after reading this review and had our pest guys back in for an extra service. There is a few crickets around Brisbane this time of year that are attracted to the big light on the top of our building. They are often mistaken for cockroaches. These crickets are not bred out of unhygienic conditions and are harmless. We'd love to have you back in Brisbane soon! Love from the Punks and Spunks at BUNK!

The best hostel we have stayed at in Australia so far. Clean, spacious rooms with a/c and a fan. The staff are helpful and friendly, you can book trips and activities through them and they aren't pushy. The kitchen is clean and well equipped which is rare. All in all excellent value for money, highly recommend it.

One of the better hostels that we stayed in whilst in Perth. Bathrooms were always clean and the room was a good size; however, the kitchen seriously lacked utensils and everything else. It let it down slightly but would stay here again.

Not as bad as other reviews make out. However, our room had been double booked but the lady at reception was apologetic and offered to call other hostels but there was no room so we had to take a dorm. Bathrooms as clean but the kitchen is filthy and the dorm rooms are like squats. Prepare yourself for cockroaches but its certainly not the worst place in Perth!

Do not stay here. By far the worst hostel of our trip so far especially for the price, an absolute rip off. The kitchen was disgusting, there was no washing up liquid so people were using hand lotion and when that ran out nothing was cleaned. The fridge was a nightmare, leaking onto the floor and jam packed with bags. The rooms are basic, literally a bed in a box with a fan. For the money you can spend less and go somewhere nicer in Perth.

Would not stay here again, booked for 3 nights and left after 1. No air con or fan in the room. The room was small and stuffy with no space for our bags. Booked in a hotel around the corner for only £3 more and had ensuit, aircon, tv, cuupboards, Window etc!

Despite booking a double room we were given a twin with no apology or resolution; instead the manager bombarded us with various excuses and we were basically told to 'like it or lump it'. However, the hotel its self is pretty much flawless, clean (although we did spy a rat in the lobby area), modern rooms with good facilities. They just need to brush up on their people skills.

I must say I'm very surprised over this review. It's about 15 minutes nice walk along the river to pub street and most of our guest have no problem with this, a Tuk Tuk cost 1 to 2 dollar. You can also rent a charity bike for 2 dollar a day. Our room is cleaned everyday and our guests always comment over our clean room. For us to clean the room our guest have to get up before the cleaner finish their day 2.30 pm and they have to leave the key at the front desk. The air con in your room is a 3 year old Panasonic Inverter. This air con works very well but please ask staff if you don't understand the remote control. Thanks for extending your stay with an extra day.
