Curitiba Casa Hostel

Curitiba, Brazil

The staff at Curitiba Casa Hostel were super friendly, helpful, and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure the cab that drives you there gives you a fair price. The rooms were comfortable and very clean.

We stayed in a private double with a private shower. Out of the 8 hostels we visited during our holiday, this ranks 2nd next to a houseboat in Amsterdam. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is generous and lovely to wake up to. The internet could be erratic but better than most hostels. They give you a lot of closet space and they have TV with satellite in the room. The only draw back was that you weren't allowed to have alcohol in your room.

I would not book here again. Not because it was an atrocious hostel, but because it didn't feel like I was staying at a hostel at all. It was more like a hotel. The biggest flaw to me was that it didn't have a kitchen for guests to use. The free breakfast was a bowl of cut up baguettes that you will quickly get sick of after a couple of days.

Marie-Anns Houseboat/Deo Volente

Amsterdam, Netherlands

I loved my stay here. Marie-Ann was friendly and helpful and kept her houseboat in the best condition. It has 2 rooms in it, so it's great for couples. The kitchen has everything you need and more, even offering beverages for sale. It is about a 10 minute walk to the center and Red Light District, which is nice because it is a quiet place to sleep. There is TV and a computer you can use. Would stay again in another visit.

Lucky Lake Hostel

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Do not stay here if you're looking for a hostel to visit Amsterdam with. This hostel is best for locals, or those on a Euro trip who want to escape from city living for a bit. We stayed for 2 nights. The breakfast provided warm rolls, OJ, cereal, and bread, spreads, and a toaster. The hammocks were a nice feature and the ducks and chicks walking around was charming. Visit the lake and nearby town. A lovely retreat.

Comfy Little Corner

Berlin, Germany

It is in an apartment that at first seems a bit seedy. The rooms are very comfortable (hence the name) and it has 2 bathrooms ( one with one without shower) which was GREAT! Paula is very accommodating and checks on you daily. The internet was slow or not functioning most of the time. Overall good hostel in a real neighborhood in Berlin.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. It was nice having you around. Well, the Internet was used a lot by everyone, so it was not very quick, but we are improving :) waiting for you back!

Hostel Pompo

Prague, Czech Republic

We had a very bad first impression our first night after getting lost and not checking in at our check in time. The owner was very irritated with us and showed it clearly with his facial expression. But he forgave us and became friendly the next day, even washing or clothes twice for only 50Kc. The room was huge with a bed that was a bit uncomfortable. The kitchen was great with enough food for everyone on the floor. It is in the heart of Prague 2 minutes away from everything! Would stay again.

Stayed for 1 night and it was very comfortable. Our flight left in the evening the next day and they let us keep our luggage there after checking out to go see more of Barcelona and they also let us lounge in their salon while we waited to leave for the airport. Extremely friendly and accommodating.

Mediterranean Youth Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

PROS: short walk to sights, nice common room, market across the street, kitchen on every floor with food labels provided CONS: no AC, cold showers, weak internet signal We stayed in a private double and had an overall good experience. The hostel itself is not very fun, and we were asked to hush when in the common room in the wee hours, but it is only a short walk to Las Ramblas and La Sagrada Familia. In the future I would try to book something closer to the beach as it was BEAUTIFUL.
