Chez Youssef Lodge

Merzouga, Morocco

Best accommodation that we found in Morocco. The place itself is simple, clean and comfortable. What makes it stand out is Youssef, the owner. He is extremely helpful and friendly and more than happy to help in whatever way he could to make our stay more enjoyable. He organised our trip into the desert which was great! The food he makes is also fantastic!! A fantastic place, thankyou.

Funky Fes

A great hostel with plenty to offer. The rooms were very clean with massive ensuite bathrooms for each dorm. The location wasn't amazing, but I'm not sure where in Fes would have been better (it was just such a big place to be!). The staff were very helpful and the food there was very good. Unfortunately there is a group of men who hang around just near the door who can hassle some of the guests, but this isn't the hostels fault or in fact much different from many other places in Morocco.

Pension Souika

A really great place to relax in Chenfchaouen. The room was clean and comfortable and the terrace was the perfect place to relax away from the sun. Only thing to note is that they don't keep the toilets stocked with toilet roll so you have to ask at reception for your own one. Overall, really great value accommodation. Thanks.

This place was fantastic- perfect location, exceptionally clean and great bathroom. However, it was the friendly staff who really made this place stand out from others that we have stayed. There was a very welcoming atmosphere and the terrace was the perfect place to spend a relaxed evening. Thanks.

Excellent hostel, have stayed here a few times. The staff are always super friendly and the place has an excellent location and is very clean. Only issue is the air con isn't very good...

Backpacking Club Hostel

I arrived to find that there was no space for me even though I had booked. The lady at reception was rude and unhelpful but when I returned the following day she was more helpful and fit me in. Had to move room as it was overbooked though. Very nice rooms, good breakfast, a great place to meet people and excellent location. Staff are scary though can be pleasant. Make sure you keep your receipt and don't expect a booking to garuantee you a bed! It is regularly overbooked

For what the hostel offers it is faultless: the beds are really comfy; clean rooms; good showers and clean bathrooms; helpful staff; and convenient location. Could only be improved with the addition of a common room.

Jing Keng Guesthouse

Longsheng, China

At this time of year the hostel is very cold, though there is air con in each room that you can put on max and if you leave it on, the rooms are fine. The hotel itself is nice and authentic and Hannah is very helpful. Don't expect any other travellers to be around now, they apparently don't visit until April.

Wada Hostel in Guilin

Very similar to all good Chinese hostels........helpful, friendly staff, clean hostel, great looking place for the summer (some things were outside so not great when its raining) and really good hot showers. Very close to the train station and easy reach of the city by walking but far enough out to not be so hectic.

The hostel seemed really nice and the only reason it doesn't get 100% is I guess because of the season. The place seems perfect for the summer months but whilst I was there it was really cold inside (more so than outside). If you can get past that the hostel is setup really well and has plenty of places to chill out and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definately would recommend for when the weather is better!!

Suzhou Watertown Hostel

This is a very interesting hostel with loads of charcater truly in the center of Suzhou. However, it is cold at this time of year and there aren't many tourists around so don't rely on meeting too many. The place seems like it would be perfect in summer. Also really nice dog there!!

Super clean hostel which seems really new and is well setup. The bathrooms are the nicest I've seen in a long while and there are all facilities you could need. Staff are friendly and helpful. Do not rely on the internet here as it is very slow and 1 of the 2 computers doesnt seem to work ever. Also no common room unless you want to go to the fairly expensive bar/restaurant area.

The hostel was really nice and in a perfect location. Only problem was it was a bit cold as all Chinese hostels seem to be at this time of year. However the staff are really friendly and helpful and the beds are amazing!!

Sanlitun Youth Hostel

Beijing, China

This place is more like a hotel, yet excellent value so don't be fooled into thinking there may be a catch as to why it is so cheap and still sounds very good. There is no catch! The place is sparkly clean (they even bath the dog every day), the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It is a little out of the way of the main sights but very close to the metro and walking distance of the sanlitun village which has an excellent nightlife. Only issue is no kitchen but they provide very good food

Olga's Baikal Guesthouse

Listvyanka, Russia

Olga is one of the warmest and nicest Russians that we could have stayed with. Her english is basic but she is so welcoming and her cooking is excellent so make sure you request dinner there (its can also be pretty difficult and expensive to get food in listvyanka so this is definately a better option). I imagine my time there is what it would be like to live with my nan, so bare that in mind.....if you want a party atmosphere you won't get it. If you want somewhere to relax this is perfect.

This was a fantastic place to stay.....Demitri really made our time in Irkutsk easy and enjoyable. It definately felt like we were living in a russian home which was fun. Don't be put off by the condition of the flat, it is more than made up for in the help that demitri provides and the fact that he is always available to take you out and show the night life of Irkutsk. thanks for a lovely stay.xxx
