Small hostel on a quiet street, about 15 mins walk from the Old Town and 10 min from the airport bus. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice lounge area by reception, but not many people around when I was there. Never queues for the bathrooms. Basic breakfast: cornflakes, milk, bread, jam and eggs you can cook yourself. Wifi didn't always work in my room, but always did at reception. Room was pretty stuffy at night, as it had no a/c or windows (except a window in the en-suite), just one small fan.

Really friendly, helpful staff, who give the place a fantastic, social atmosphere. One night they made salad for everyone and shared rakia around, on the house. Nice lounge and rooftop terrace to hang out and meet travellers. One morning the breakfast was good, the other it was great. Located a 2-min walk from the centre, next to cheap canteen. Downsides: lack of hand soap in the toilets; bad smell in the showers; dorms right next to lounge/reception (noise prevents early nights and lie-ins).

Cool, friendly, helpful staff. Nice location on a quiet street about 10 min walk from the centre, close to a supermarket. The beds were comfortable but a bit too close together and the rooms had nowhere near enough sockets. A/C was good. Nice breakfast. The common area is more of a lobby than a lounge, which isn't the most conducive to a social atmosphere. Showers were good but some of the toilets lacked hand soap, so you had to go up and down the stairs searching for a place to wash your hands.

Excellent central location, short walk from the seafront. Buses to/from the bus station, train station and airport stop right on the doorstep. The day receptionist was ultra friendly and helpful; gave us loads of advise about what to do. The night receptionist didn't speak much English, but was also friendly. The hotel has a really nice decor and a kind of "faded grandeur" vibe. Excellent a/c. Only minuses: bathroom lacked anywhere to hang towels/clothes, and no view at all from our window.

This hostel is really great, with a laid-back vibe and plenty of space for guests and staff to hang out, get to know each other and drink. Perfect for solo travellers who want to meet people and have a good time. The staff took us out at night and even though the bars they took us to were pretty lame, we had a lot of fun anyway. The location is great, in a residential area just a short walk from the touristy centre. No a/c, but the rooms were absolutely fine even though it was very hot outside.

Really chill little hostel, true backpacker atmosphere, fun for solo travellers. Good wifi, lockers in rooms and well air-conditioned dorm (vital in summer). Clean enough for me, but if you're very picky you might disagree. The owner's ultra friendly, helpful, fun and interesting. You might have to wait for the bathroom in the mornings, as there are only two. Right next to the bus station, which is convenient, but unfortunately quite far from the centre (30+ min walk).

Excellent hostel! Really friendly staff who are always happy to help, or just have a chat, and who have encyclopaedic knowledge of Tirana. Great social atmosphere, but quiet after midnight. Good breakfast (I recommend the omelette). Ideal location. Dorm was air conditioned, which is 100% necessary in summer. The greatest thing is probably the pet tortoise they have wandering around the courtyard. Only minus is that they turn the air con off at 8am, meaning the room's already kind of warm by 9.

Stayed in a double room for three nights with my girlfriend. Staff ultra friendly and helpful; spoke excellent English. Room modern and clean, bar some tiny ants. Air conditioner worked well. TV had two channels in English (Al Jazeera and Deutsche Welle) and one in French (TV5). Small window provided plenty of natural light but no view. Location good in that you can walk to Chinatown (10-15 min), Siam Square (30 min) and Khao San Rd (20-25 min), but immediate vicinity a bit sketchy after dark.

Great hostel! Social atmosphere every evening, when guests are drawn to the common area for the two complimentary beers they get each night. Dorm had decent-sized lockers as well as a desktop computer. Perfect location, in heart of backpacker district. Only negative is that our dorm was very hot at night. I assume that this was because the air conditioning unit wasn't working properly (it was certainly on all night), but it might just be that one of the other guests turned it down or something.

Perfect location in Old Town, next to restaurants/bars/cafés, but no street noise in rooms. Everything new and clean. Showers excellent (and plentiful - no queues). Good wifi. Computers available. Staff friendly. Big lounge area on the fourth floor, open 24h. Kitchen looked decent, but I didn't use it. Biggest plus was the beds: each had its own shelf and a curtain for privacy. Only minus: room was a bit stuffy and cheap bedsheets made of plasticky material had me sweating a lot in the night.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in! Completely clean. Really nice decor and furnishings make it feel like a cosy apartment. There are two really nice lounges, a good kitchen, plus even sofas in some dorms, so there's loads of space to chill. Great social atmosphere. Good location on a quiet street, a short walk from the Old Town and the train/bus stations. Free wifi and 2 computers. Very generous breakfast included. And with costs getting as low as €7 per night, it's amazing value!

Very nice, clean hostel with well-equipped kitchen and cool lounge room. Situated on Tartu's main square in the Old Town, which is as central as it gets and affords lovely views from some rooms' windows, but does mean light sleepers might be disturbed by noise from the square's bars and cafés, which can be busy from early morning until late at night. Staff very friendly, helpful and approachable. Big lockers. Basic breakfast included (cereal, jam, bread). Free wi-fi and a computer for guest use.

This is by no definition a hostel, but an absolutely beautiful house in which rooms can be rented out. Very clean and comfortable: frankly luxurious compared to actual hostels. At guests' disposal are a large, modern and clean kitchen, a balcony and a big garden with space to relax. There was a TV in our room, but it didn't work. Wifi was decent. The location was fantastic: Sigulda is a calm and attractive village nestled in some beautiful nature. Staff didn't speak much English.

Stayed 3 nights with a friend. Perfectly clean hostel with friendly staff, cool lounge and well-equipped kitchen. Excellent location just outside the Old Town (maybe 1 minute on foot to get there). During our stay the hostel was quite empty, which was good in terms of getting a quiet night's sleep but did mean there wasn't much of a social atmosphere. Apparently only one bathroom serving 14 beds, which might be a problem when the hostel's busier.
