The main property on Yale seemed nice but since we had booked a private room we were further down the street. When we arrived they had just installed a carpet and the whole room was in disarray. The staff did her best to get things ready as quickly as possible. She was really nice but overly apologetic about hosteling in general. We've stayed in a lot of hostels so it seemed unnecessary that she was trying to soothe us as if we didn't get the concept and were secretly appalled. Good location.
One of the best hostel we've stayed at. Beautiful and clean. Has a great area to hang out and have a few beers while making new friends. Most of the staff were incredibly helpful and were able to speak English with us. One staff seemed bothered to help us even when we were trying to just buy a beer. There were a couple of loud nights where some guests stayed up until past 5am playing trance music and talking loud by our door... kind of wish the staff had enforced the quiet hours.
The hostel was clean and the staff were very helpful and put uith our terrible Spanish. It has a really nice atmosphere with stained glass overlooking the common area. Cusco gets really cold at night so we also appreciated the many thick blankets on our bed!
Overall we had a pleasant stay, the only thing that really irked us was the staff. At least once a day someone would knock on our door and ask our names and if we had any other people in our room. On one occasion two separate staff knocked and asked our names three times within 30 minutes. Even just hanging out in the shared living room area we were asked if we were so and so, even if they had just spoken to us earlier about who we were. We felt this was somewhat rude and irritating.
