Pros: This is a great hostel for meeting other travelers and it is right on the sand. There is a refrigerator and free water for refilling water bottles. Front desk staff is wonderful! There was always hot water. Curtains on all the bunks gives such a cozy feel to the dorm. Loved all the seating areas!! Cons: WiFi is spotty. There is no dedicated kitchen for use by the guests.Housekeeping seemed to be understaffed or cleaning the dorms was a low prority, not sure which..

Excellent location, close to beach and cheap food places - Subway, McDonalds and cheap Chinese food. Parking is pricey here and just about everywhere in this area. Note: if you want to get a decent night sleep, you need to close the blinds and the curtains because the curtains alone do not make it dark.

This is a large, industrial-style hostel. It has lots of soft and hard seating. The beds are comfortable and you get 2 pillows!! You don't have to wash your own dishes! However, the lobby was extremely noisy. The room was not cleaned during my stay and the trash was overflowing.

This Hostel is a work in progress. Shortage of power outlets. Great showerheads. Yep, there are lockers, but leaving your valuables in them is rather iffy. Great location.

Staff excellent. Location good. Grocery store across Street. Did not like shower because it was one temperature fits all. However, overall was great experience and would definitely stay here again.

Great location. Great staff. Great atmosphere. WiFi worked in the dorm most of the time. Flowers. Free coffee and tea. Temporary shortage of bathrooms. Wicked steps. Grout in bathroom needs cleaning, but clean other than that. Good pillow and mattress.

This Hostel is very homey!! The front common area is just like a normal living room with a wood burning stove. There is also a sitting room with tables behind the kitchen Ilked this Hostel alot and would have liked to spend moretime there My only complaint was THERE were not enough bathrooms when the place was full, but it was okay when not full.

This is a beautiful Hostel full of artwork and with some antiques thrown into the mix!!! There is no such thing as a perfect Hostel, but some excel in so many areas that it is easy to overlook the faults. For me, the fire in the fireplace and the flowers sealed the deal! This is a really great hostel!
Wow thank you so much for the amazing review! It's lovely that you payed attention to all the small details! We were very happy to have you stay with us, come again anytime!

The mattress and pillow were good.the common areas were mainly hard surface. The bartenders were friendly, but the front desk staff was not. Male staffers are more helpful than the female staffers.I booked in here by mistake because somehow I missed the word PARTY in the description!! This is a party Hostel.

Staff was pleasant and very helpful. It is off season and cleaning was not on a daily basis during my stay. WiFi was excellent in the common area, but it was cold in there!!! WiFi was sporadic in the dorm. Common areas had both soft and hard seating. Location is right in town and a stone throw to the bus stop. Fully stocked kitchen.

The mattress and pillow allowed a good night sleep. Getting in and out of a 3 story bunk takes some getting used to. Staff was nice. This place has longer term residents who are territorial with the common areas, but if you stay here you will understand why some hostels limit the length of stay to 7 or 14 nights. Breakfast is toast, choice of cereals, juice and yogurt, plus free coffee and tea. This is a YMCA with affordable lodging and free breakfast; not a hostel.

Great hostel with several comfy, cosy common areas. Great staff! WiFi works in all common areas, but not rooms.Lift was not working during my visit, which was a real pain. However, overall this is a really great hostel with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable seating for relaxing, helpful staff and a good location.

The bathrooms were horrible here! The fault was more with the residents than the cleaners though, but some of the bathrooms reeked of urine if the windows were closed, which indicates a problem with the toilets or the flooring. There are 2 microwaves and nothing else; not even a paper towel!!! Some of the staffers were nice, but some of them were quite impatient, and one lady got very angry when I enquired if I was going to get my key deposit back! I regretted booking so many days here.

I loved the curtains on the bunks! There are a lot of steps, but they are not very steep and were easy to go up and down. There is a large, fully equipped kitchen for those who like to cook! It is centrally located in the downtown shopping corridor with easy access to grocery stores and a local market. The WiFi does not work in the rooms anf if more than 3 people try to access the WiFi in reception, noone can access it. I found it odd to be referred to as a customer instead of a guest.

The common area is quite large and full of comfy couches, loveseats and chairs, and WiFi works well here!! The cleaning staff is amazing! If the elevator bounces twice, you are going to the basement. The washer on the right does not spin enough water out of your clothes and the top dryer has the ability to overpower the laundry detergent and make your synthetics stink. The curtains on the beds are lovely to have for more privacy. Overall, this is a great Hostel for peace and quiet.

I loved this place! There was so much to look at and many seating areas! I also loved the water fountains! This hostel grabbed the #2 spot on my personal top 10 list, while my #1 fav made hostelworld's top 10 list last year. This place is unique.

I only spent one night here, but it is very close to the airport and the shuttle service makes it all worth while.

The sloth in the tree added greatly to the atmosphere of this place. There were also some brightly colored birds and very colorful iguana on the property. The ocean view from the swimming pool area is lovely.

The swimming pool is good. Sitting beside the pool with electronics is bad because the No Diving signs are in English, but not Spanish - yep! I got wet and so did my tablet. Beware.

Unfortunately, I went from a super clean guest house where everyone spoke English to this hostel where English speaking staff was in short supply and things were looking worn and frayed. Although it did look like some new sheets had been purchased recently -they just did not quite fit the beds. If you are a German or Spanish speaker you will probably be quite happy here. Also, it looked like there was some "pretend cleaning going on here." The owner needs to look at her staff and watch them.

It is hard to say something nice about a place where I sustained massive numbers of insect bites - 43 on my left leg alone. I thought I was bit by mosquitoes, but the next night got bit even more and then moved to another bed in the open dorm the next night and did not get bit at all. hmmmmmmmm. There was soap scum on the sheets and the blanket - if the soap was still there, what else was in there? Bed bugs maybe? You decide.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. This is a great place to chill out. and relax. This hostel is like an Oasis in the city, with chirping birds, wild iquanas and a full size swimming pool - complete with sun loungers. The kitchen is well furnished and there are many channels in English on the tv (it rained when I was there and it was an added bonus). This was a very social hostel during my stay, but not a party hostel. There are also activities available. I definitely recommend this hostel.

The 24 bed dorm was really quiet for the number of people staying there, but the dorm could use some pillows with some pouf because they are pretty flat. The bathrooms were clean and so was the dorm. The common area on the second floor and the 3rd was quite nice, but I kept forgetting it had rained and kept ending up with a wet backside because the water behind the cushions would then race for the lowest point on the cushion. Nice clean hostel. Nice staff. Many scuba divers.

This is a lovely hostel with great staff. I really enjoyed my stay here. This place is shockingly good value for the money. The rooftop space is great! There are even little refrigerators and drinking water in the dorms!!! Staff is helpful and friendly and breakfast is above average too for the money. Would definitely stay here again and this is one I will recommend to other travelers.
We loved having you! We admire the young spirit you have and spread around you. Hope to see you again next time you visit Playa del Carmen!

This hostel is close to the ferry to Cozumel and the ADO station. It is also very close to the beach. This hostel was under construction during my stay which added to the discomfort factor of no ac until 10:00pm. I have no idea why this hostel held so much heat after the sun went down, but it dd. Fortunately, the owner is improving conditions by adding a rooftop area to the hostel, which should make it much better. Also, the bed I had was uber comfortable!!!

The staff here was very nice and friendly. The kitchen was very well stocked and has a commercial refrigerator so there is room for everyone to keep food in it. This hostel really has a computer to access the internet. However, they do not have a tv with cable for everyday use. This really is a party hostel and people are very friendly here. I did sustain insect bites my last night there though.

This place was just dirty and grimy and could really use a deep cleaning to remove the built up scum on the shower door on the 4th floor. Keeping up a hostel in area where mold is rampant is hard work and this place has understandably gotten behind on the deep cleaning. However, for $5 a night, alot can be overlooked.

This place had some really beautiful wood in the room I stayed in. There was a mosquito net over the bed and I could look up and see the sky. However, that meant the sky could see me also and it was pouring during my stay there and some of my stuff got wet inside the room. The kitchen was not stocked at all, but there was a tv with cable in there that can be watched when it is raining. This hostel is close to the ADO and also a grocery store and it is also on the main drag where city buses run.
