Hostel Plinio

Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

We LOVED this hostel. My favorite in the whole country! The atmosphere is amazing, like a tree house in the jungle. The common areas are perfect to meet new people or relax in a hammock, and the staff seriously went above and beyond to help us out when we had issues finding transportation, etc. Super friendly, always there to help- basically this is what a hostel should be! Highly recommended! WiFi doesn't reach the rooms and geckos were on our bed, but its all part of the experience!

Cabinas Vista Al Golfo

Monteverde, Costa Rica

Decent location, good view and fun social common area. Staff was very helpful with planning day trips and booking things for us. Breakfast was great as well. I'd recommend this hostel in the area for sure!

Hostel Pangea

San Jose, Costa Rica

The hostel has a great atmosphere, cool rooftop bar and restaurant, and a nice pool. The shared bathrooms were surprisingly nice and everything felt very safe and clean inside. The neighborhood the hostel is in wasn't my favorite, and we got lost trying to get to the city center (they say it is easy to get there but did not have a map and the directions were a bit off). My only other complaint is they don't take credit cards and they refused to let us into our rooms until we had paid.

Lima Limon Candelaria Hostel

Bogota, Colombia

The hostel itself is super cute with great decorations & atmosphere. We were in a private room & didn't have a locker, but everything still felt very secure. The staff was very helpful and friendly, & the cat is a great addition :) The only cons were that it's on the edge of La Candelaria & I don't know that the surrounding area would feel too safe late at night. It's still within walking distance of all you need to see though, & they organize day trips for you. I'd stay here again!

Thanks . Hope to see you soon :)

Perfect location, very fun and friendly staff, small enough that you can get to know people in the hostel, and there is a nice hang out area. Our room had AC and it was heavenly. Everyone there is definitely 'chill', and if I come back to Cartagena I will absolutely be staying here.

La Brisa Loca

Santa Marta, Colombia

Perfect location, awesome building with a pool and great restaurant/bar area. We had a private room with AC and it felt amazing! I wish they served dinner not just breakfast and lunch though. The staff was very willing to help and friendly, also the pool area and rooftop were good to hang out and meet people. Being on the first floor it was quiet at night. This was our favorite hostel during our whole trip throughout Colombia! (PS check out FIDEL TRAVELS for good daytrips to Minca- ask at desk!

Mamy Dorme Hostel

Barranquilla, Colombia

Great location, good staff. City doesn't necessarily have much to do though.

El Viajero Cartagena Hostel

Cartagena, Colombia

PROS: Perfect location, good Security, helpful staff, free breakfast. CONS: staff always busy and sometimes seemed irritated to have to help as they were spread so thin. common areas were outside or in a very hot hectic room, and you have to clean your own dishes even though the breakfast is included. Also you pay for A/C but the staff controls it, never setting the temp very low and constantly switching it on and off- so it never feels cool. Shower doors all broken, very loud music til 12am.

Yellow HouseHostel

Medellin, Colombia

A great place in an excellent location to explore the city. It's a safe neighborhood right by a metro stop, and Vincent was so helpful in giving us tips on daytrips and tours. He also cooked a delicious homemade breakfast for everyone each morning with fresh juice, etc (MUCH better than any other hostels breakfasts!). The dogs are so swee, and as there aren't a huge amount of guests everyone hangs out and chats like a little travel family. I'd absolutely recommend!

The Cranky Croc Hostel

Bogota, Colombia

Perfect location to explore Bogota. Nice neighborhood, great atmosphere, good setup. Loved the in-hostel food and drink options and the staff was very helpful in planning and giving ideas. A fun place but not over the top party type. Also there's a resident cat and dog, so who could ask for more?!

No Name City Hostel

Madrid, Spain

Just stayed for one night before going to the airport, but it was a very social and safe environment. Staff very helpful, nice facilities and very clean. Security lockers under the beds were great. You can walk to all the main sights in Madrid from here, and it is very close to the metro. The common area and free breakfast was excellent, and there is also free WiFi!

Oporto City Hostel

Porto, Portugal

Perfect location, within walking distance to all the main sights. There are many restaurants around with great food. The staff was very helpful and the kitchen facilities and common areas were nice. The beds were very soft and the individual lockers were nice. The bathrooms were very clean as well. The only complaint was that it was very loud in the common areas on weekend nights, but as long as you don't have to go to bed early it's not a problem.

Pension Lemus

Madrid, Spain

PROS: Good lighting, Excellent location, Friendly staff (but they only speak Spanish), Good price, Sinks in Rooms CONS: Bad decoration, Sketchy looking entryway, WiFi only worked in lobby, Shower heads broken in all bathrooms, Extremely loud guests at night (staff does not tell them to be quiet). OVERALL: Good price and location, small and kind of dirty old building with an absent staff that was friendly when they were there, but again you must know Spanish. Tacky "Camp Rock" decorations

Traveler's Inn Seville

Seville, Spain

Great location, Amazing and helpful staff, beautiful building and great atmosphere. They got us oriented to the city and set us up with a good flamenco show. Our beds were very comfortable and it always felt very safe there. I'd definitely stay here again! My ONLY complaint is that it's super dark in the bed rooms- even during the day. They need more lights or brighter lights, gave us a headache.

Pension Cibeles

Cordoba, Spain

PROS: Excellent location, clean facilities, comfortable beds, good value, private bathroom, felt very safe. CONS: Staff only speaks Spanish, were never around to help us, felt alone in the hostel most of the time. Our shower was broken and flooded the tiny bathroom, could never find staff to help us since no one was ever there. If you like an average, good experience with minimal staff interaction, stay here. Overall, not bad- I'd stay again, just think the staff should try harder to help out.

Casa Bombo

Granada, Spain

This hostel is in a beautiful location and is ideal for visiting all the sights in Granada, just be prepared to do a lot of walking on cobblestone! The amenities and staff were very friendly and helpful, though sometimes it was hard to tell who worked there and who was a guest. The rooms have safes, super comfy beds and spacious dorm rooms. Overall, clean safe place and I'd definitely stay there again! Free walking tour is great too.

MoonBeach Guesthouse

Valencia, Spain

Great location and nice rooms, we were all very comfortable. You can walk to the beach in 5 minutes and it´s in a great area of town. The owner is really nice and helpful too. My only complaint is that the hostel has no sign on the outside, so when our taxi took us to the address, we spent about 20 minutes walking around asking random people how to find it. We finally knocked on the door but nobody was there, until a random guest let us in. They really need a sign outside.

Hotel Europa Valencia

Valencia, Spain

The WiFi only works in the common areas and it is very hot in that room, if they could add a fan or at least open a window that would be great. The guy working at the front desk was very nice and helpful, and the rooms are small but nice beds and the AC was great. Overall, it's in an excellent location and while the rooms are very basic, you get good value for your money.
