Great place to experience the Elqui Valley. A relaxing spot to take in the valley, and to appreciate the clear, star-filled night skies. Richard is an excellent host, and makes some tasty jams from the locally-grown fruit, which you can try at breakfast. Easy to take the bus anywhere you want to explore the other communities of the valley. Definitely recommend Al Yaras on any visit to the Elqui Valley.
A very good choice in La Serena. Nice house, on a quiet street located across the street from the Japanese gardens. Bus station and shopping areas are close as well. Good breakfast, and very friendly and helpful staff!
Nice old house in Bellavista. Good location for anyone wanting to spend time in Bellavista -- it's a five minute walk to Patio Bellavista. But the bathroom was not cleaned at all in the two days I was there, and one toilet seat was missing.
North House is a great option in Bogota. Location is ideal, with all the shopping, dining and entertainment options nearby (Zona T/Zona Rosa), plus convenient access to the Transmilenio system (Héroes station) no matter where you want to go in the city. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere - they make you feel at home. Have stayed here before, and will stay here again!
Great central location, especially if you want to spend time on the beach. Mall of the Americas is close, as well as a few big supermarkets (HiperLider, Jumbo, and Unimarc). Very comfortable place - a very welcoming environment.
Great hosts - very welcoming! Location is also excellent, in a nice neighborhood near the beach and the main avenues San Martín and Libertad. Good spot for making friends - very sociable atmosphere. Highly recommended for any trip to Viña, and Valparaiso for that matter, which is only a few stops away on the Metro.
Great place to stay before or after your trip to Torres del Paine. Kaweskar is like a bed and breakfast - you feel right at home (you even leave your shoes at the door). Alex and Omar are great hosts and very helpful. Breakfasts are one of the highlights - cereal, bread, eggs, fruit, juice and tea. Would definitely stay with them again on any return trip to Puerto Natales.
The only negative about my visit was that I could not stay longer! Great place to stay. It's got the warm welcoming feel of a bed and breakfast - and their breakfasts are very good for that matter. I look forward to returning.
Different experiences dealing with the staff, from one nice friendly girl, to a gruff man who scared me after hearing him yelling at someone on the phone. You don't act like that in front of guests. The facility itself is fairly secure, but the neighboring streets are questionable at night, with the drunk rowdy crowds at the bars. East of Pio Nono has a safer feel. On the positive side, it's close to Patio Bellavista, and the Metro station (Baquedano). The house itself is nice.
Very good location, close to the main plaza. Only issue was that even at 8 am, there was still nobody on duty when I was ready to check out. I had no intention of wait around for somebody to show up (whenever that might be), so I didn't get my key deposit back.

Just found this new hostel, and very impressed. In a very good central location (and good neighborhood), a short walk to two big shopping centers (Multicentro and Multiplaza) and the bus stop for the MetroBus (which you can take to/from the airport for just $1.25). The house is great - very well kept, clean, nice atmosphere, nice people ... plus, there's the relaxing backyard with a pool. Definitely recommend Los Mostros!
North House is in a great location. Much better to stay here, in the Zona Rosa area, than in the Candelaria (where most BOG hostels are), because the streets are dark and deserted there at night. Also, from NH, it's only a couple blocks to walk to the Transmilenio station - very convenient. And, they make me feel at home at NH -- excellent hosts. Highly recommended!
Great to see a hostel in Colima. El Litchi is located on a nice quiet street, a 10-min walk to the main plaza in the Center, or a 15-min walk in the other direction to Felipe Sevilla del Rio, a busy commercial avenue with restaurants and shopping. Alex and Javier are very helpful for whatever you need to know in Colima. Definitely recommend staying with them.
This was my second time staying at North House hostel. I first stayed with them last year because of their location in the Zona Rosa, one of the best places to stay and explore in Bogota (the Candelaria zone is fine in the daytime, but would not recommend it at night). Everything is safe and secure at North House, and I felt completely comfortable when out at night. It's a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and they made me feel right at home. Highly recommended!
Really not happy with the bathroom/shower situation. One bathroom for guys, and ZERO power outlets -- not even any place to plug in an electric shaver or hairdryer or anything like that. Would choose another hostel just for that reason alone. And the guys should have a REAL shower, like the girls bathroom has.
