The Siem Reap Hostel

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Hostel is fantastic value for money as a solo backpacker, safe, and very friendly. Staff are all excellent. The gentleman who runs the hostel has great english and is very friendly, with lots of advice if a traveller requires. He helped me to book a taxi to the Thailand border, and suggested a good location to hire a bike, as the hostel bikes were not in the best condition. Great atmosphere with nightly specials, cheap drinks, movies, pool competition. Great for socialising. ~5min walk to pub st

The Mad Monkey

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Spent a single night here in PP. Very well run hostel with local staff. Very friendly, great atmosphere, good restaurant, bar and facilities. Unfortunately a bit out of the central districts. I chose this hostel due to its close proximity to Tuol Sleng and my limited time in the city. Had a twin private room for myself as a solo traveller and found it comfortable and secure. Would recommend to my friends.

NgocThao GuestHouse

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
100%

I spent 2 nights in NgocThao guesthouse. The family who run the guesthouse are fantastic. Very good English, fantastic services. I was able to exchange money at a reasonable rate at the guesthouse, book a bus to Siem Reap through them, i was provided with a very detailed map with food, public transport, markets, shopping, bars, the works. Unfortunately Wi-Fi was not accessable within the room and only worked at the door or in the lobby. Also quite a climb to the 5th floor. Otherwise excellent!!!

An Hoi Hotel

Hoi An, Vietnam

Small guesthouse/hotel located very near the main tourist attractions of Hoi An. Requires a short walk (5-10min) east and then north over a bridge into the market / attraction distrtict. I had a private twin room as a solo traveller and found it very secure and safe. Small window with no view, attached bathroom and shower. Good value for money and a decent location if one is happy to walk short distances.
