We originally booed for 2 nights and ended up staying for 2 weeks. So easy to get around the island from here either by bus or in a hire car/scooter. Ushna is really helpful and room with breakast is good value.

Really very convenient for flights to and from Joburg. Rob is great and the free pick-up and drop off a god send. Room confortable and quiet despite closeness to the airport.

Stacey and Bronwyn were exremely helpful, polite and cheery as were the other staff. Great pots of coffee in the morning got our days off to an excellent start. Hasn't got the party atmosphere of other hostels which means you can get a good nights sleep but still a great place to meet other travellers and enjoy a social drink if you want.

An excellent hostel for the price.Free airport pickup was excellent and a real bonus. We got upgraded to LHH3 for free obecause they were booked out on our second visit. Wifi a bit hard to get in room on 4th floor unless stting near the door. Manager very helpful but sometimes a bit too chirpy when you've jsut gotten in from a long trip. Staff really good.

Aqua Boutique Guesthouse

Breakfast is awesome. Staff exceptionally pleasant ( sometimes a little overwhelming but polite, great english and very helpful). Our only compalint was that our room was too big for the air conditioner to operate efficiently. It took ages to cool down and although not hot, it was never cool enough to sleep with the covers on. Maybe a fan to generate air flow would be of benefit.

A lovely old house, beautifuly restored in a quiet part of town. Lovely, helpful owner. Kept immaculately clean by the wonderful staff. Lovely sitting areas and breakfast is included which makes it great value. Not right in the action (which is why it is quiet) but only a short walk to street food, night market and main area of town.

oSome construction work next door made things very noisy during the day time. Enquire as to when it will be finished. Shouldn't be to much longer.

Apple Hostel

Whilst Chungking Mansions has a bit of a reputation, we've never found it to be trouble. The Apple Hostel was a pleasant, convenient respite from the chaos outside. The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull and kept our room spotless. We will be going back there in 5 weeks time and have no hesitation in recommending it. The only downside I can see is you may need to wait for the lift at times, but that in itself can be an experience!!

Why would you stay at this place when there is so much better value all around.Well past its expiry date. If you have to spend one night here use it to find somewhere else. The place is a dump.Luxury rooms with widescreen TV, 2 computers and a jacuzzi for the same price or less just around the corner.

We thought the place was very good and had great character. There was one staff member only and he wasn't there sometimes (especially when other guests arrived looking for a room). The toilet smelled pretty bad, but it worked and we used incense to mask it. The location is great and I'd recommend it to anyone.
