When you're running a youth hostel in a small-ish Central European town, your staff have gotta be at least remotely familiar with the bus and train schedules in and around the region, and at least appear like they're equipped to help you out with finding a way out of town. Like, this is practically half their job. Staff here were almost aggressively unhelpful in this regard. It's a hostel. In Bratislava. You should be prepared for people asking how to get to Budapest, Vienna, etc.
Booked here specifically because they make a point of noting that they are LGBT-friendly. Just wanted to let staff know that this isn't going unappreciated!
The 6-bed dorm actually seems nicer and more private than the 4-bed dorm, and so it might make more sense if their respective prices were switched. Aside from that minor quibble, this place is great.
if i could give a higher rating than "excellent" for character, this place would undoubtedly deserve it.
this place bothered me, which isn't really reflected in the score that i gave. it doesn't matter how they justify it or explain it, the 11:00-2:00 lockout is really, really stupid. every hostel that i've stayed in - no matter how large or small, sketchy or comfortable, whatever - managed to stay clean without having to lock people out. also, they have problems with their water heater, and often there was just no hot water in the bathroom. i got the feeling that they have this attitude that they're doing you
