alejandro, the permanent worker there, is themost amazing person ever! he took care of us so well, reminding us of drinking enough water, checking our clothes in the morning to give us more jackets so we wont feel cold, and always up for a good conversation or a glass of wine. the rooms are nice, the double especially, the kitchen is tiny and there could be more equipment but its fine for breakfast and pasta. the shower is tricky, i have to admit, but its really the only thing i would change.

Pehuenia hostel y cabaƱas

plus: central, nice staff, well heated, hot water. minus: they charges us 10 dollars (!!!!!!!!!!) for renting the bikes for like an hours and they were crappy as hell. the kitchen is small, its difficult to cook when there is more people and its not very well equipped, the rest was fine.

Favela Chic Hostel

Foz do Iguacu, Brazil

plus: great atmoshphere, great staff, kitchen is reasonable equipped, breakfast is fine, nice common area. minus: it rained on my bed, there is only one bathroom for about twenty people so we had to wait forever in the morning and it is outside the building so you get wet if its raining and its dark at night.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We do everything we can to repair the roof when there are problems during torrential rainfalls. Unfortunately the workmanship in Brazil leaves a lot to be desired, but we are constantly striving to improve this. I am embarrassed that this guest had rainfall on her bed. Our cheap dormitory does only have one bathroom available. It is very basic and is designed for travellers on a tight budget. There are 2 bathrooms available in the more expensive dormitory which also has air conditioning.

Bathrooms are poor - the water was turned off , we had to ask a few times with the result that the water was now running constantly. the dorm of 12 smelled horribly toxic, so we changed for another room where the ac was leaking and weted my backpack and my sleeping bag (they waited again 15 min. to show up). in the end we got a cheaper price beacuse of those problems, which was ok, but than when we asked for a taxi they "sold" us their driver who charged us double of the regular price!

a very nice hostel with very nice and helpful staff, but bring your sleeping bag it gets pretty cold. the kitchen is fine, nice common rooms too, just very far from the tourist party scene, therefore more original in the beautiful old town of quito. stores and anything else close by. we recommend it if you are more interested in culture than in party :)

very nice rooms, very clean, pretty rooftop the food highly overpriced though, breakfast was poor. the boss is very friendly but when we wanted to change our 2 days booking to just one day in advance it was not possible although its high season we are sure he would have found someone else, still our fault though. no hassle to book a tour thats great! check out at 9 is really really bad, the train station pick up worked perfectly well. overall a good stay!

Hotel Shree Palace

the place has a nice color and is more quiet because its a couple of minutes walk from where everything happens, for us as two females it would have been nicer to be closer downtown to not walk alone home. the pool is to dirty and breakfast took 45 minutes although it was just toast. the hole-in-the-ground toilet always got plumped and hot water worked only sometimes. staff generally was nice though and view from the rooftop great

Thai Dee Garden Resort

we went there for the full moon season and were a little worried because of all the bad reviews but the staff was incredibly nice and helpful and an austrian guy who owns a great bakery on the other side of the street told us that the owners changed two months ago, so thats maybe why. there is of course mosquitos (so bring a net if you have) and other animals you find in a garden, but the bungalows are lovely and its nice to sit on the balcony. also it was clean and had rintown is really close.

the breakfast is awful, its not very clean and the staff is not very friendly. and its horribly noisy, we really dont know what these guys were doing all night and day long but sometimes it sounded like the whole house is about to break down. however, i guess its ok if you just stay there to sleep and leave your stuff.
