Belgrade, Serbia

Very helpful staff & located 5 minutes from the lovely city park & square.

Hostel Split

Split, Croatia

Helpful staff and near perfect location, as close as you need to get to the town, without being too close to be loud. I only stayed one night and it was perfect for that.

House Hostel Zadar

Zadar, Croatia

Located half way between bus station and old town, beach only 5 minutes walk away. Really friendly staff who were welcoming and chatted to you like you were their long time friend. Perfectly clean, quiet and stores nearby for convenience.

Hostel Kosy

Rijeka, Croatia

It was a small, clean hostel. But there were no kitchen facilities. The staff spent most of their time on the phone. When I needed some help, the receptionist was outside having a smoke and talking on her phone. This happened twice. But the biggest problem, reception close at 10 p.m. People arrived late (as happens all the time due to late buses etc.) and had no way to check in. I had to help them contact the staff who left the contact number inside the hostel, not even a note on the door. Shame

Students Residence

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Nicely located only a short walk from the town center, nice staff and facilities,. It must previously have been a student digs. Even though I booked a 6 bed dorm, it turned out to be three 2 bed rooms in one corridore with a small kitchen and bathroom. Can be a bit awkward sharing a small room with just one other person. Not too much atmosphere but they do give you a change to go to another nearby hostel to have a good night.

Chillout Hostel Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia

Nice hostel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the location very central to the downtown area. One of the better hostels I have stayed in. Only negative - The drunk English guys who came back to the room at 4 a.m. shouting and laughing and the one of them who got sick outside the room door. But obviously not a fualt of the hostel.

Rastel Hostel

Budapest, Hungary

91%? It was a twenty five minute walk from the city centre, the kitchen had no glasses and looked like it was cleaned on a whim, with two of the three small fridges not closing properly. The staff member who admitted us gave us the wrote key code to get back into the hostel and he overbooked the room. I had a girl arrive at 4 a.m. complaining that I took her bed, even though the receptionist said that was my bed. Half the footlockers had broken locks. No computers.

Hostel Blues

Bratislava, Slovakia

Good location and facilities. New kitchen and friendly staff wanted to help and joke around with you. Lockers in each room and a big padlock provided by the hostel. Arriving on a Sunday night didn't help as the weekend was over, but nothing exciting happened over the next few days. No session at the hostel before the pub crawl which begins at 20.30. A bit too early.

Hostel Oki Doki

Warsaw, Poland

Good facilities and the happy hour was a good way for people to mingle. Friendly staff who always helped whenever help was needed. Not far from the bus station, nightlife but about 15-20 minutes from old town. Felt very safe and secure there.

Vilnius, Lithuania

It was in a good location, but, next to three churches, and with Sunday morning being my first morning, the room was woken by choir singing and organ playing at 8 a.m. This also happened on Monday morning. Because it is the new Hostelgate (Find out which one you are staying in because there are two) the facilities, although clean, are not complete. The spiral staircase handrail was definitely not secure, one of the shower rooms had no light and the floor flooded at times.

Friendly by name, friendly by nature. Lovely staff, a fun atmosphere and trying to include everyone. On the edge of old town and near the river. Plenty of things to do and information about culture and nightlife. Frank was very generous. Go to his bars too.

The Monk's Bunk

Tallinn, Estonia

Well run, social and conveniently located hostel. An inclusive atmosphere meant that everyone socialised and the staff cooked a meal each evening for 2-3 euros, which you would pay more than double in town for. To relax or be entertained it was a great place.

Castanea Old Town Hostel

Stockholm, Sweden

The location could not be better for a tourist, but staying in a 16 bed room at least was off-putting. It was more like staying in a strict aunts house than a hostel. I was afraid to touch anything in the common area lest I make it unclean. No receptionist at 3 in the afternoon and no way to get in. Luckily another guest help me. Receptionist looked inconvenienced at my checking in. Kind of intimidating stay.

City Hostel - Central Station

Stockholm, Sweden

A very good hostel overall. I would recommend it to anyone. Very clean, friendly staff, good kitchen and common area. Nice layout. Only problem, improve the directions given on hostelworld. I was lost for about 40 minutes. There are no signs outside the building to show it is the hostel. A plain door leading down to the basement entrance with an A4 sheet on it saying this is the hostel is not good enough. I walked passed the entrance twice.
