Massimo seems to manage a number of converted residential apartments. We like the San Giovanni area so were not too put out being moved on arrival. Others may not be so obliging or gracious. Facilities in the Felice Rooms (where we stayed) were just adequate but not good enough to self cater. Wifi was good. We would not plan to stay here.

Oltrarno Terrace

Florence, Italy

Firenze, beautiful Firenze. This apartment is in the middle of Santo Spirito, close to everything hipster. Facilities are really adequate, wifi is good and the loft bedroom is well ... romantic. Stefano and Angela are gracious and helpful. Location is central and most areas in central Firenze are easy by foot. Enjoy the Teatro Verdi and all the delights that Firenze offers.

Casa Consell

Barcelona, Spain

"This is your home while you are in Barcelona". Everyone at Casa Consell makes you feel this way all the time (even after checkout!). Fab facilities incl. cooking area, fantastic common area, great location 1 minute from surface and metro, 2 minutes to La Ramblas and markets, 5 minutes to Ravell (the most interesting area for us), 10 minute walk to Sagrada Família and Gaudi stuff. Would like to recommend as highly as possible and can't wait to get back.

This large corporate chain stuffed our bookings. These things happen, but the manager appeared to give no f_cks, was rude and offered no options. We left. Happy to recommend a change of management based on this experience.

Rembrandt Park House

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Dirk is a gracious host. His care is well appreciated. We stayed in two units (one part of the hostel, one a private arrangement), both opposite Rembrandt Park. The park is a quiet place away from Central Amsterdam hubub. Make sure to enjoy the school vegetable and community gardens in the park. The unit was comfortable, well provisioned, and more than adequate for self catering. Make sure to organise bikes (we did), day transport tickets or prepare for 15-20 minute daily return walks to Central.

Dreaming Rome Hostel

Rome, Italy

Fabio and his team care for the Dreaming Rome hostel and it's guests. Location is just around the corner from San Giovanni and convenient to all surface and metro transport. The Colosseum etc and San Clemente are a comfortable 10-15 walk. Supermarketo and pizzerias are nearby. Good facilities for cooking your own meals, hostel wide wifi, secure residential building and fab common area makes this a hostel to put on your list in Rome. Thanks Fabio ...

Although a mistake was made with our reservation, the owners were extremely obliging and helpful. The accommodation was very good. Many additional facilities are provided for example towels, tea and coffee and cooking areas The property is very new. We would happily recommend this property to any family groups.

This was an outstanding contemporary accommodation experience for our family of 5. The accommodation certainly contributed to a very memorable stay in Kyoto. The owners are establishing their business, and our family wishes them every success for the future (and lots of babies!) Roujiya offers bicycle hire, and we would strongly recommend exploring Kyoto by bike. Please find other accommodation if you are not able to respect this property, or if you plan to party hard in Kyoto.

Nagano Yudanaka Shimaya

Nagano Snow Monkey Park, Japan

The Yomotos are exceptional hosts. The Simaya is an outstanding introduction to traditional Japanese ryokans without being too spartan or fussy. Yudanaka is a wonderful destination for those looking to experience rural Japan away from the mainstream tourist destinations. Thank you Yomato-sans. We recommend this property to all travelling families.
