I've stayed in loads of hostels, and this is honestly one of the worst. Staff are rude and unhelpful, the 'hostel' is a converted motel and is half hotel, half dorm rooms, and not very clean. Only redeeming quality is that they have free shuttles to/from LAX, so a good stay if you need somewhere cheap near the airport - although had to wait an hour for the shuttle to pick us up. Do not stay here unless passing through.

The hostel has lots of potential, the floor we stayed on was new and they were teething out problems, but the rooms were adequate and bathroom facilities were good. Had no lockers and people had stuff stolen. Some of the staff had no clue what they were doing and very disorganised, seemed more keen to party then deal with day-to-day hostel responsibilities. They had problems with keys, we were moved around to different rooms depending on which keys they had spare until more cut.
Staff were rude and unfriendly, zero customer service. The lock situation is ridiculous, had three keys for three separate doors, the front gate key doesn't work so had to climb over it to get in and out. The dorm room was clean and comfortable. Only one shower for the hostel of 6 dorms which made showering difficult. Would not recommend unless you want cheapest, basic accomodation. Was ok location-wise, 10min walk to the port/beach.
The hotel was good value for money, would definately stay there again. Night time staff spoke little english, but daytime receptionist was lovely and recommended restaurants nearby. Toilets are communal, only had bath/shower in the ensuite. Location wasn't that central to the main sites but still close to underground. Overall a good cheap hotel if you want the basics for as little money as possible.
Staff were great, nothing was too much trouble for them. And the free sangria each night was great for meeting other travellers, especially as a solo traveller. Great location, very central. Overall a great hostel.
