The hostel was a 20 min walk from the pier, very close to the beach. Western Rd nearby has a few nice cafes, bars and shops. The beds in the hostel were extremely comfortable, but the bathrooms were slightly tired. The renovation work didn't disrupt us at all which was very pleasing.
Cannot fault the place! The owner is lovely - very helpful. The facilities are excellent - kettle, microwave, balcony, chairs in the room, table, tea bags etc.,double-headed shower & bath. The cleanliness of the place was exceptionally high - lovely duvets and pillows. The location is in a lovely district of Amsterdam not very far from the centre and close to places like House of Bols, Van Gogh museum, Heineken experience and Vondelpark. We will definitely use this place again the next time we go!!
We arrived at 11pm at night just as advertised the reception was 24hr. Our room had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower and was v clean. A maid service replaced towels and made the beds daily. The location was perfect - 10 mins from the Eiffel Tower, Metro Dupleix right outside, and Rue Lourmal itself is a lovely Parisian street with a bakery, local cheese shop, wine shops etc. The Brasserie nextdoor is a welcoming place to eat - escargot recommended! We really enjoyed our stay at this place!
The hostel is very cheap - which is what we were looking for. It is also a restaurant and had shiskas. There are lockers downstairs in the restaurant area. Our room had a shower room, air con and a double bed. The air con worked perfectly, but seemed to freeze up and leak water sometimes over the bed which was slightly annoying. We also did not have a window. However, if, like us, you don't spend much time in your room, it's fine for having somewhere to put your head at night.
Great hostel, great location. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean. We had a lovely time in Brisbane.

A very chilled out hostel and exceptionally clean. We stayed here longer than planned as it was very comfortable, the units are like little apartments. The owner, Gary, was very pleasant and friendly (much like the name of the hostel). It is located about a 10 minute walk/ 2 minute cycle from the Esplanade. The free bike hire was such a great addition to the hostel as you can ride pretty much the length of Hervey Bay on the cycle path.
The staff were amazing; helpful and pleasant, could not fault them. The hostel is great for meeting other people as they do pub crawls and the staff are very chatty. The rooms are clean and so are the bathroom facilities. The kitchen was clean and roomy enough so many people can cook there. The location was great, buses to the theme parks just 5 minutes walk. It was also possible to buy tickets at the hostel. Free Wifi was excellent. The only thing is perhaps keep your valubles locked away.
It wasn't one of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in, but it's certainly one with the best character. I absolutely fell in love with Byron Bay and this hostel, quite the hippy haven (but without the hippy prices i.e. things are quite expensive) ... bongos playing in the background, people without shoes etc. We stayed in a Deluxe Double Tent, which was right next to the lake with a balcony. The courtesy bus takes people to and from town behind the bus shelter pretty much all through the night.
Wollongong is 2 hours by train south of Sydney so anyone wanting to do the same as us and explore Sydney; it is quite stressful. This hostel was not very clean, I think it is overpriced considering it's location. They have one 4 stove cooker which gets quite busy, the oven doesn't work and the gas on the hobs goes out unless you put a stone on the dials. The washing facilities were also limited. However I did like the character of the place, it was quite hippy-ish and in general a quiet hostel.
We stayed here one night, but it seemed quite a lively place. Free breakfast is good. The free tram runs close by. The location was good as we stayed here to go the MCG for the Ashes. The cleanliness could have been better as after having a wash in the bathrooms you didn't really feel all that clean. We were travelling as a couple and booked a 4 bed dorm but they could not put us in the same room, eventhough there were 2 free beds in my dorm. I guess people change rooms without staff knowing.
Very welcoming hostel, really comfortable rooms, good amenities including lots of washing machines, tvs, internet pc's and best of all a welcoming clean dining/kitchen area which includes fridges for guests and cooking equipment. The location is right near the free city circle tram with good connections around the city. Highly recommended for visitors in the Melbourne area.
