Really clean and safe hostel with a pretty good location, 5 minutes walk to central and george street is just a stone throw away. Good value for money since the hostel offer FREE wifi and breakfast!!! Thats pretty rare for a hostel in Sydney! Not the best atmosphere tho, kinda hard to meet new travellers , no common activities arranged by the hostel , so this hostel is probably better for people not travelling alone ;)

Pretty clean hostel with a good central location, it is located on top of a steep hill tho that you need to carry your luggage up for, so beware of this! Wasnt fun dragging a 25 kilo suitcase up at 2am ;p no breakfast and no free wifi, wifi can only be used if purchasing an YHA membership for NZ , which didnt make sense for me since I was only in Nz for a few days, so didnt have any internet at all :( only 2 power plugs in each room (for 8 people to share?! ) . Facilities were alright.

Arrived to sydney late and I all wanted was to sleep, but when I got to the third floor where my room was I heard a pre party was going on with music and drinks and a big group of people, this party was of course in the mixed dorm I had been placed. They had to leave after a few minutes tho when a security guy told them to leave. Bathrooms were not too clean, a girl seemed to have the flu and was almost passing out throwing up in the toilet... No free wifi or breakfast, pretty expensive.

Hi There, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, its so important for us to know of your experience. Firstly, I must apologise that your stay was not exceptional! Its never nice to walk into a party instead of your dorm room. As you witnessed, security are on shift to monitor noise in rooms but unfortunately sometimes the parties can begin quicker than we can check on them! Please see management at check in if you stay with us again, we would love to make amends.

Located on top of a steep hill, so people with heavy luggages be aware! No free wifi, no breakfast. Nice staff tho that carried my suitcase up to the 2nd floor (no elevators and all rooms are on the 2nd floor :/ ) . Met some nice people , so a pretty good atmosphere I would say, a smaller and more personal hostel. You were able to book tours and airport shuttles in and around brisbane through the hostel .

Thank you for your kind words it is really nice to hear from you. Only half of our rooms are on the upper floor and yes there are a few steps to climb but as you say we are always happy to assist a young lady with her luggage :) Enjoy your travels from all here Woodduck

Free shuttle from Greyhound station, several shuttles during the day that will take you to the shopping centre. Hostels located just by the beach. Free wifi ( didnt work for me tho) and free breakie. Rooms are small and very personal, 4 normal beds in one room with ensuite (no bunks) , felt more like a motel than hostel except that you shared your room!! Spacious kitchen, free pool to use. Very friendly staff that will assist you in booking fraser island tours :) overall a very good stay!

Thanks for your review. Sorry the Wifi didn't work for you but glad you enjoyed the free breakie.

Clean hostel and great location. A very big hostel which makes it hard to meet people as a single traveller. Booked a 8dorm but got a 4bed dorm instead, not sure why , i do prefer bigger rooms when travellin alone so wasnt so happy about that. No activities goin on at nighttime , just lots of information abour the bar next by. Probably a great place if you are travelling with a group but felt very lonely as a single traveller. Wifi 4 dlrs per day, for paying 37/night should have been free!

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback with us, we really appreciate this as a measuring stick for what we can do to improve! Sorry for the free room upgrade, we do like to upgrade people into better dorms when we can. If you wanted a larger dorm you should have just asked :) the wifi ($4 day / $12 week) is very cheap by aussie standards, and very fast by hostel standards as well! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels, Warm Regards & Safe Travels, BASE Crew

My friend and I had booked a double room for the wknd, the room was freezing (around 12 degrees inside) no heating on at all. Very noisy - you heard everything from the street below and we were on the third floor! Plus noise from the bar downstairs (again still heard it clearly through 3 floors!) . Lack of atmosphere, only a cheap place to stay nothing else. Locations great. Not a typical hostel feeling, just a cheap place to crash for the night right in the city!

Really liked the atmosphere at the hostel, was just a great place to meet other people, constantly got to know some people in my dorm when I checked in and people overall seemed friendly and open to talk to you . Liked the fact that the hostel has some sort of activity going on every night, great way to get to know others. Friday was clubbing in Kings Cross and Saturday was partybus to Sydneys largest club "home" at Darling Harbour , you did get some really good deals with these outings as well!

Kinda lacked an atmosphere, not too many activities going on, a lot of long term travellers which made it hard to meet new people while travelling alone . Wifi was 1 dlr per hour! The common area /tv room was smelly and not really clean. The 8bed female dorm was alright, just full of stuff from the long termers , was freezing at night didnt seem to be any heating on, very noisy from the street. Bathrooms were alright not too bad. Kitchens good but had a weird smell as well. Locations great .
