This is definitely an interesting place. There is never anyone in the office so we had to sit around in the living room waiting for someone to come check us in (we looked and couldn't find the staff anywhere). Once we checked in, the room was very spacious and very clean. The bathrooms were not very clean unfortunately. The kitchen was functional and met our needs. Farm animals on the propery make a lot of noise (cows). Facilities are decent - pool and trampoline. Good for a short stay.

Very charming place! Was more like a bed and breakfast than a hostel. There was a mistake in our reservation and they took care of it immediately - upgraded us to a private cottage with ensuite bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Great facilities (even the shared dorm rooms) and very clean. Would recommend to anyone - no complaints.
Thank you for taking the time to share your impresions of Ducks & Drakes - I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and perhaps we will see you or your friends back here one day. Happy travels

Hostel was just ok - very big and bathrooms/showers were not clean. Rooms were good for a short stay. Location was pretty good. Night staff were not friendly when we checked in.

Very friendly staff - they even gave us treats for Christmas! Nice hot tub and great patio tables for enjoying the weather. Very clean rooms. The only downside was that they did not have an oven - only a toaster oven which was small for the number of people at the hostel (longer wait times).

This hostel was ok - no electrical outlets in our room which was a downside and there was only a fitted sheet and a comforter. Would have been more hygenic if there was a top sheet since comforters don't get cleaned very often. There were also a lot of spiders in the room. Kitchen did not have a freezer. Overall though, the place was functional and met our needs for a short stay. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.
Hi Thanks for staying @ Bazils, Every room has power outlets, some are hiden behind the beds and make the hard to spot. We also have top and bottom sheets on our beds that are washed daily. Sorry if there was a spider in your room, the window may have been left open. We also have two frezzers in the other kitchen for our guests to use. Next time your here come ask and we will show you where everything is. Cheers Bazils crew

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed - rooms very clean and the facilities are amazing. Free internet and wifi and a free phone to call home to over 60 countries! They also have a go-pro and ipads that can be rented out for the day, and even bike rentals. Staff were pretty friendly except one gentleman that was heard complaining openly about the guests to other staff - it was a bit rude and should be done behind closed doors. Great rooftop patio to hang out on...we wanted to stay longer!

Great view of Mount Cook from our room and excellent location! Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. Very clean rooms and great facilities (pool tables were a bonus).

A printed list of "rules" was provided at check-in of things you couldn't do - unneccessary to hand something like this out to people. Should post the list and let people know to have a read or verbally let people know some guidelines. Don't need to treat people like children - at least give the guests the benefit of the doubt. Also, only a fitted sheet and comforter was provided. Most hostels will provide a top sheed as it is more hygenic. Comforters aren't cleaned as often.
