Hostal Chaska Wasi

Ollantaytambo, Peru

We had a reservation for a twin but their internet crashed and they didn't receive our reservation so we were placed in an 4-bed dorm that we had to ourselves. We only stayed for a night so not a big deal. It's close (10minutes walking, 1,50 soles by mototaxi) to the train station for Machu Picchu.

Tayta Wasi Hostel

Cusco, Peru

Very clean hostel but not very close to the action. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas but if you don't mind that you get a Hotel style hostel with excellent breakfast and excellent facilities.

Hostal Isidoros

La Paz, Bolivia

Located near the central bus stop it seemed to be in a dangerous area. It's about 20 minutes walking distance from San Francisco church and the center of the city. The room was very cold (seemed to be even colder than outside) and the shower was like everywhere in Bolivia - the less pressure the warmer > warm water only when dripping. Breakfast isn't worth waking up for.

La Torre

Tupiza, Bolivia

Security is a bit dodgy as it is a tour agency and everyone can just walk in and out. Hot shower was very strong, bathroom was constantly flooded though. Very nice room (matrimonial) but no use of kitchen. The best Bolivian pizza (Milan Center) is just around the corner though.

Hostel e Pousada Natureza Foz

Foz do Iguacu, Brazil

Great breakfast, conveniently located just three blocks from the Terminal Urbana from where you can reach all of Foz, Puerto Iguazo and Ciudad Del Este. Very clean rooms!! Only downside maybe that some of the staff neither speaks English or Spanish.

Timbo Posada

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

Tiny dorm room with no window and door could not be properly closed. "Lockers" were in terrible condition. Pool wasn't clean. Breakfast was really good though.

Macanudo Hostel

Montevideo, Uruguay

Very clean hostel (bathrooms and kitchen) with extremely friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Very colorful, spacious and calm.. A really good hostel with a rooftop to chill out.

Hostel Nakel Yenu

El Calafate, Argentina

Best parilla for ARS 120 we had in South America...even restaurants couldn't compete with the quality and value for the amount of food you get. Clean bathrooms, clean kitchen, great breakfast.

Knutsen Housing and Hostal

Santiago, Chile

Perfect stay. The owner Knut does everything to make you feel welcome and safe. The people in the hostel are generally friendly and fun to hang out with. Because of the large living room, well equipped kitchen and terrace/garden we got a homely feelingduring our stay and will definitely come back. The hammocks add a cozy touch. I'd recommend it to other travelers as well.

Hostal de Visita

Valparaiso, Chile

Great staff and great atmosphere. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were always super clean. Room (ours was a matrimonial) is gigantic like a hotel suite.

USA Hostels Ocean Beach

San Diego, USA

They offer rides from the airport or cover your cab fare. Good (free) breakfast, generally friendly but stoned ppl

The New York Loft Hostel

New York, USA

I love this place. Met so many nice people and it is only located 20 minutes outside of Manhattan. East Williamsburg is the place to be!

Montreal Central

Montreal, Canada

Cool and very cheap place to stay. The staff was very friendly and showed us places to go out and helped us with general problems all the way. I will come back for sure!

Canadiana Backpackers Inn

Toronto, Canada

Great Hostel, great city. The hostel is located near Queens St. the street where a lot of Toronto's nightlife happens.
