Hanoi City Hostel

Hanoi City Hostel in Hanoi, Vietnam has been the best hostel we have stayed in so far in South East Asia. The room was comfy, clean and cool, the breakfast was delicious and free! However the thing that made it stand out was the helpfulness of the staff. Moon was so friendly and accommodating, she helped us book our Ha Long Bay tour and our onward trip to Hue. She gave us recommendations on where to get the best Pho Bo and Ga and was more than helpful in lots of other small ways. Stay here :)

Sorry to leave such a bad review as the owner of the hostel was lovely but there was no proper cooking facilities, no laundry service and just one toilet - shower for the whole hostel. The place was also covered in flies which was horrible. I know it is located in a desert but we moved hostel and there were not half as many flies there. I have no idea how it has 75% but it is misleading.

Total party hostel so do not come here if you want to chill. The staff were great and there were lots of activities and tours organised by the hostel itself. Dorms were basic with just a ceiling fan. Definitely not enough toilets available and the ones downstairs smelled so bad for the whole week. Private rooms were a delight with own bathroom but were still pretty warm.

Location right by bus station so very convenient. Pool was nice after a long hot day at the falls. Room was big enough but was too warm as the air con was out of order. Some of the staff were more helpful than others. One shared toilet was discusting but the others were ok and each dorm (chalet type) had their own bathroom. Outside bar was a luxury.

Very average hostel. Only two staff members were friendly. Double room was just a bed but was cheap at least and had aircon however found massive flying cockroach making itself at home one night. Also seemed to have some ants running around the place. Bathroom was shared between two doubles but was used by everyone in the dorms also. Bar was never open.Location was very good, right by bus to falls and the (helpful) staff members went out of their way to ensure we knew how to get there and back.

Had a lovely time here. It felt very safe compared to other areas of the city we stayed in before. The location was great, one block from the beach. The staff were lovely and helpful and the bar was great craic. Bathrooms were small and bins were smelly but ok. Dorms were a little tight. Still had a great time.
