Cheap and convenient. Staff are really friendly and excessible, facilities are simple but fine. Rooftop is a really nice touch. The surrounding Itaewon neighborhood is fun and eclectic.
Laid-back hostel. Great communal feel, rooms were clean and comfortable (great considering the heat in KL), and, even when full to capacity and busy during the day, things were quiet at night. Bit of street noise from the nearby neighborhood, but the location is convenient. A couple good market streets and public transport links nearby.
Decent hostel. The location is stellar (only two blocks from the beach) and really close to the city's main restaurants, bars, and a number of great street eats. Gets a bit rowdy given its proximity to bars and because of its clientel (us included), but if you stay here you're probably expecting more of a party crowd. Staff were efficient, but we found their brusque manner a bit off-putting.
Cheap, quaint, and well-located. Right out of the most touristy part of the city, but only a 10 min walk from the main sights and shops in town. The women working reception everyday were so immensely friendly and helpful that an "Excellent" rating doesn't even do them justice. The included breakfast is pretty good and the bike rentals make it really convienent to pedal up to An Bang beach only about 15 min north.
Most atmospheric hostel I stayed at in Vietnam. Whole downstairs area opens up on to the street. Rooms all open up onto balconies and it's great for chilling and people watching. Good happy hour deals are a great way to meet fellow travelers. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is good for checking out the area's plentiful bars and restaurants.
This was by and away the best hostel I stayed at in Vietnam. The location is perfect. The staff are incredibly friendly and helped with literally everything we needed (open bus tickets, SIM cards, motorbike rentals, restauarant suggestions - you name it). The beer happy hour seems like it'd be over the top, but it's honestly a great way for the whole hostel to convene after a long day and wind down or start a night out. Best hostel for value and for meeting people in Vietnam, hands down.
Clean, quaint, and quiet - it feels like you're crashing in someone's swanky apartment. The location of the hostel itself is a bit removed from the few touristy things to do in Nanning, but its proximity to the bus station and the visa service provided are unrivled in their convenience. Exactly what you need for the visa layover in Nanning.
Location is stellar for sightseeing and great for getting to other points further afield (Hongqiao station and Pudong airport are on the same line as the closet stop, People's Square). The rooms/beds are just fine, bathrooms are small but sufficient, and the bar/lounge area is an attractive communal space. Internet is so-so and really only works in the bar area, but those are only minor inconveniences. Solid choice overall.
