This hostel has some great social areas, which makes it perfect for meeting people. It's located in a quiet area but it's really close to some great bar streets as well as Parque Lleras. The Greek BBQ on Sundays is good value and tasty! Had a really good stay here and would definitely come back!

Had an awesome stay here, mainly cos I met some great people. The set up of the hostel is perfect for meeting people, with a pool and terrace, big kitchen for cooking together and free salsa lessons in the evening. Good breakfast: cereal, fresh fruit and bread or crackers with jam. Bit far away from the center but still in a nice area. Couple of suggestions, better curtains in the dorms and no need to play music from 8 am onwards!

Great value for money, this hostel. Kitchen has all you need, breakfast is generous and healthy, extensive DVD collection and book exchange. Rooms are a little cramped and the toilet smell does waft out now and then but didn't stop me getting a good few nights' sleep! Quite a few kids running around, which can get a little annoying but I guess it's to be expected in a family-run place. Kitchen staff friendly and owners helpful

Location is good being just out of the action but close enough to walk in. The downstairs hammock area is a great place for chilling out and meeting other travellers and it's a nice novelty sleeping in the dorm up on the roof with the breeze to keep you cool. Decent place, but seems like you can get more for your money elsewhere.

This is a party hostel but it's possible to chill out and do your own thing if you want. Looks a lot fancier than a £5 a night hostel. Great place to meet people and play drinking games or just chat by the pool. The tuna steak is awesome as well! Breakfast could be more generous though...

Nice place with a good breakfast. Staff are a good laugh and keen to give you lots of info about all the different treks and ensure you make the most of your time there. Decent little bar area too.

The rooftop terrace makes his a great hostel. Awesome place for meeting people, relaxing and starting off a night out. The dorm was a bit noisy, being right next to reception, but this could just be cos they had a big group of people turn up. Bed was comfy. Staff nice and chatty and happy to help.

Really enjoyed my stay here during the World Cup. Best bit is the view from the terrace, overlooking Ipanema beach. The owner is nice and really laid back, it feels like he's just letting you stay in his house. The breakfast is great. Fresh, warm bread rolls with cheese, ham, jam and fresh fruit. Rooms are a bit cramped and it's a bit of a trek to get to Copacabana or Lapa but buses leave pretty regularly from just down the hill. The aiport bus also goes by there, which is handy.

This is a really nicely done up hostel and it would've been a great place to meet and hang out with people, if anyone had used the bar when we were there! Has potential though, and I think they have a sister hostel up the road with more going on at night. The rooms are nice and the personal shelves by the beds are a nice touch. Our room was really noisy cos it was right next to the reception so we could hear the door buzzer going all the time, but I'm sure other rooms wouldn't have this problem.

I had an awesome time staying here...mainly cos the staff are all great and always happy to help. The room was clean and, even though there's no AC, the fan's keep it cool enough. The cafe/bar is a perfect area to hang out and meet people and the hostel is in a great location for other bars and the subway, too. Definitely value for money!

Best hostel I've stayed in, mainly because the staff are awesome. They're all laid back and a good laugh and speak good English. Genuinely keen to help and ensure I enjoyed my stay. Even did a good job of pretending to be pleased to see us when we woke them up to let us in at 2 in the morning after a couple of nights out! Good bar area to meet people and have some banter with the girls that work there. Nice room too, electric blankets a nice touch... Would definitely go back!
