Siamaze Hostel

Bangkok, Thailand

An extremely clean, comfortable and well-kept hostel. It's a bit out of the way of the main tourist areas, but it's perfect if you are looking for somewhere a bit chilled out amongst the craziness of Bangkok. It's also not far from Sutthisan metro station, so it is not hard to get to other places. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Clean, quiet and well-located guesthouse. The staff are friendly and helpful. The private rooms are a good size and open onto private terraces, which are very nice. There isn't much going on in terms of socialising, activities, etc, but if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing base from which to enjoy Chiang Mai on a budget, this place is perfect.

Singharat Guest House

Luang Prabang, Laos

Clean, comfortable and well-appointed guesthouse. It is a little removed from the main tourist strip, but can easily be reached on foot (10 minutes) or by taxi. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic, although their English is limited which made communication difficult on occasion. There was, unfortunately, a street party outside during the three days I was there, which ran on late into the night—I was told this does not happen often, so it should not count against the hotel.

Sihome Backpackers Hostel

Vientiane, Laos

This hostel is clean and well-located. The private rooms are spacious and in good condition. There is a pool table and a movie room, which are good for meeting other people, although the atmosphere is relatively quiet (that is, when I was there, people didn't socialise a lot). The staff were pleasant, although their English is limited and they do not appear to have a good knowledge of places to go and things to do in Vientiane. Overall, I think this hostel is decent value.

3Howw Hostel at Sukhumvit 21

Bangkok, Thailand

This is an excellent hostel. The building appears to be brand new, the rooms are clean and very comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I would be very happy to stay here again.

Newen Kara Hostel

Santiago, Chile

Very good, quiet, relaxing hostel. The garden out the back is delightful, the perfect place to chill out and read a book at the end of a big day exploring Santiago. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The location, in Providencia, is close to lots of excellent restaurants and the subway. The breakfast is satisfying. If you are looking for a quiet hostel to relax and recharge, this is a very good option. The shower is a bit temperamental, though.

Gisela & Carlos house

Vina del Mar, Chile

This was an excellent and homely place to stay. The hosts, a delightful family of four, were extremely hospitable, helpful and friendly. The hostel rooms are housed in a separate extension just behind the backyard, which includes a pool, sun lounges and a patio. Gisela and Carlos prepared a hearty breakfast every morning and kept the rooms and living area spotlessly clean. I think this is a terrific option for visitors to Viña and Valparaiso and I would be delighted to stay here again.

Aji Hostel

Santiago, Chile

Decent but unexceptional hostel. Good location in Providencia, close to a Metro station and a few cafes and shops. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The kitchen facilities are small and not very well-resourced. The hostel is pretty clean; however, when I arrived, the sheets on my bed had clearly not been changed since the previous guest. They were changed when I pointed this out. Overall, this hostel is fine, but you can probably find better value for money in Santiago.

Good atmosphere, cleanliness and location. The courtyard is a great place to meet other people and the kitchen facilities are excellent. The main problem is that there isn't a lot of space. The dorms are pretty crowded and there is little room to change near the showers. The staff are variable – some are friendly and enthusiastic, others are more aloof. Overall, a decent place to stay for younger backpackers.

Pisko & Soul

Cusco, Peru

Excellent hostel. Very helpful and friendly English-speaking staff. Clean, comfortable private rooms. Located in the historic district of Cuzco, walking distance from the main square. Free, reliable wifi. Decent breakfast included. I would be very happy to stay at this hostel again.

This is a beautifully maintained mid-range hostel. It is located outside the main town of Baños, but is easily accessible by taxi for about $1.50. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well-appointed, the included breakfast and a la carte dinner options are delicious, and the owners are very helpful. I would highly recommend this hostel to discerning travellers.

Sunflower Hostel

Cali, Colombia

Good, basic hostel. Staff were friendly and helpful, but some spoke very limited English.

Hello Thank you for your feedback in hostelworld. We value each of your words. We also want to be better every day, and so I ask you something: you could expand a little more to make us your comments and suggestions? Sunflower lacks punctuation Hostel to achieve 100%. Again thank you very much again, and if you return, Sunflower is your house, and they offer you a free night. Jairo Carvajal

La Masia Summer Hostel

Taganga, Colombia

Overall, this was an excellent hostel. The pool and bar area is like a mini-resort, with comfortable lounges and a chilled-out atmosphere. It's a bit of a hike from the beach, but that also makes it a good place to get away from the incessant Caribbean music that every house in Taganga seems to play at full volume on their outdoor sound system. In the unlikely event that I ever go back to Taganga, I would gladly stay at this hostel again.

The Hostel-Inn Iguazu Falls

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

Good location and excellent facilities, including a large pool and relaxation area. The dorm rooms were a little cramped but fine for a couple of nights. The hostel is quiet and peaceful, which is great if you are keen to relax after coming from the madness of Buenos Aires. Located about 10 minutes from Iguazu Falls by taxi. If you are looking to party in Puerto Iguazu, however, one of the hostels in the town itself (such as the Marco Polo Inn, run by the same people) might be better.

Milhouse Hipo

Buenos Aires, Argentina

This hostel was excellent. I was initially concerned that, being a well-known party hostel, it would be impossible to get any sleep during the four nights I stayed there. However, the rooms are located a couple of floors above the main bar / party area, so this wasn't a problem. If you are keen to explore the nightlife in BA, there is an outing to a club every night. The staff were friendly and helpful, the location is good and our room was cleaned every day. Very popular with Australians.
