Old Town Hostel East Wing

Kotor, Montenegro

The staff is really nice, but just not on top of their stuff. They're not great at responding to emails and their advertising and communication are a bit misleading. For example, I picked this hostel wholly because it advertised transfer to Skhodra, and even emailed the hostel to confirm, but once I checked in, it turned out that the transfer was up to 140 Euro more than expected, and didn't even happen every day.

There is transfer to Shkodra-Tirana and cost 30 to 40 euro per person, if at least 3 person, as stated everywhere....140??? What??

Balkan Han Hostel

Sarajevo, Bosnia And Herzegovina

Unkas was a wonderful host and his hostel is top-notch. This place is great: there's a common room where people gather to watch football and generally hang out, but it's far enough from the sleeping areas that those who need rest can get it in spades. I can't recommend this enough.

Hostel Trogir

Trogir, Croatia

The owner of this hostel is incredibly professional, friendly, generous, and laid-back, and his staff is, as well. The hostel is as close as it gets to old town Trogir, but tucked away adjacent to a small church, where one can sleep through the night and see the local little kids playing football by day. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
