the place has only just opened, but has already managed to create a pretty sweet vibe. i guess you can't go far wrong when everything is brand new and made to be nice for guests. theyve got these weird space-age pillows and futon mattresses ive never seen before too. i thought it kind of resembles a hotel in terms of the structure and 'luxury' levels, but the people and staff are chill and it's easy to make buddies, unlike in hotels. i don't really know though - i can't afford hotels.

i would stay there longer and enjoy using the ground floor lounge/bar if it wasnt so smoky! i admit im quite sensitive to smoke but this place would be so much better without smoking allowed indoors. it comes up into the rooms too.

“although i ended up unwillingly testing his patience, georg the receptionist endeavoured to be almost inhumanly helpful when i accidentally left an important usb stick behind in the hostel. thanks georg!”

ernesto was very helpful and kind. there were some kind of strange people you might not want to stay with very much in one of the four dorms.

wow, a different class of hostel! these guys take extra care to make you feel at home. free internet computers are helpful; right next to some of kyoto's most interesting bits :) the staff are very friendly and kind and organized some little parties and events for us while we were there too!

i stayed here a couple of years ago- they've made some improvements. security is tight. i think the management is new too. they've got more of a focus on being a 'travel agency' than i recall. i found the reception staff really lovely and professional- kinda surprising for just a backpackers. you're not left feeling like just another number, like at some of the bigger hostels i've stayed at here. tv room is not really to be recommended though. it's tiny and stuffy.
