this is a really nice hostel right by the bus station which was perfect for us as we wernt interested in tunxi town itself. It is a little like a hotel so no backpacker atmosphere if thats what youre looking for, but its super clean, the dorms were fairly spacious and airy, there was a nice dining/common area with decent food served. The staff were very helpful and spoke good english. they booked our bus to huangshan for us the night before and advised us on where to go etc. overall decent place

really well located right in the centre of the old town. The building is beautiful and rustic, giving you a real sense of the area. although it is an old building and it gets pretty cold at night, the rooms were surprisingly fairly warm and they had electric blankets too :D staff were very helpful, we booked through them to go to tiger leaping gorge (which is stunning by the way-stay at the halfway house-it was awesome!) which we recommend too. We really enjoyed our stay here

This is the worst hostel we stayed in in all of China. There are NO MATTRESSES!! You will be sleeping on a piece of plywood and thats it. There is one bathroom for the whole hostel and whilst we didnt have troubles with queueing for it, it was a total mess and the door didnt close properly, definately didnt lock. Staff were friendly enough, no complaints there, but we didn't enjoy our stay there. Probably because we were so tired from sleeping on wood..

A nice hostel in a central part of HKK. A strange layout to a hostel as it is in a residential building and the dorm room was a little cramped for luggage space but overall the place was clean, it had a basic kitchen which was handy and free tea and coffee in the morning. Staff were nice and helpful.

We expected worse from some of the other reviews on here. We stayed in the dorms on the rooftop which were pretty standard affairs. Bathrooms were clean with western toilets and hot water and staff were nice and helpf. However, the key for our locker didnt work and when we asked for a different one (as we are 2 there would presumably be another free) they said they had no more because people had run off with them. we then had 7 people in our 6 bed dorm for 1 night, so security was a little slack

We really enjoyed this hostel! Dorm beds each had a curtain which is a nice touch of privacy, the place was always clean, nice common areas with a relaxed vibe, and in a great location. The staff, however, earn this place its medals. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful no matter the question and speak excellent english. Name dropping Sally, Richard and Sherry? as really helpful. Even the cleaners are super happy and friendly all the time. Also, take their panda tour. its worthit.

the hostel was okay. staff didnt really speak english so it was a little hard to get information. they have information on how to get to places written down somewhere around reception in english, although they didnt think to show it to us, we just chanced upon it. the hostel is very dark and dingy and the toilets and showers weren't particularly clean. The floors were always quite dirty as well. we never had time to go into the town but the hostel seemed quite a way out of it.

Pretty standard place. Clean, light and airy rooms. Nice common area. Staff for nice and helpful, spoke relatively good english. Short walk to the center of the town. Go to the night market and get the best chinese hamburger! Down the main street, at some point you can turn left into the fried foods section. Find #10 shanxi ju li pork burgers (you dont have to have spice). theyre awesome and only 8 yuan :D

really nice hostel, the staff are really friendly, especially Miracle? i think her name was. It is a little on the edge of the old town but it is walkable and there is a bus which runs nearby to the main train station and a metro stop not too far either. the dumpling party is good fun so get involved. clean with great common areas. only downside is that the beer is overpriced ;)

nice hostel in an old building. dorm room was a little bit cramped but clean. we had an ensuite but the door didnt shut so we always used the shared toilets, at least one of which was blocked every morning but it always seemed to get cleared once the cleaners got to their rounds. location was really good, walking distance from the major sights. we enjoyed our stay here

nice little hostel, we booked it just as an overnighter between magnetic and cairns. walkable distance to the bus station/ferry terminal but you can also take a bus. nice, very clean hostel with a big decent kitchen. staff were really nice. only one of us ended up staying as i had to stay in hospital overnight thanks to a snake bite but the staff let me come in and take a shower and everything in the morning before we got the bus which was really appreciated

the place was fine. standard stuff really, the rooms were spacious. but the whole hostel seemed to be a really run down version of something that used to be good. it felt like an old motel. needs a bit of love. apart from the bar, thats nice and the food is good.

the hostel has a nice layout and setting on a farm but its a little out of town. having said that, they do a shuttle but youre tied to it and there arent really any taxis so its a bit of a pain. common area is spacious except for the kitchen. we arrived in middle of the night and they put us in one room but then we had to move the next day to another room which was a little annoying if nothing else. would have been more annoying if we had plans for that day

we didnt stay here in the end because they lost our booking and the rooms were full. first impressions of the hostel while we waited for them to come up with a solution for us were not great. seemed crowded, dirty and dull. anyway they found us another room at hostel109 round the corner (and paid the difference in price) which we really liked. clean, nice owner and good facilities

We stayed in a 4 bed ensuite and were pleasantly surprised by the wide comfy clean beds and large bathroom. There are ample toilets outside of the rooms too. It's in an ideal location and value for money in the heart of London and if my diva sister says a hostel is "pretty decent" on arrival, it's got to be good!
