This hostel was great. I returned from a tour with a sore neck and the owner couldn't of been more accommodating. He offered me a free room to rest until my bus, a hot shower and to make me a tea. It was so nice to see a hostel actually wanting to help without charging you. On a side note, it was a close walk to the square, the beds were comfortable, the showers hot. I would stay here again.

Hey Lindsay, Thanks for your good review. Lagoa is a 15 minute bus ride from our hostel. When i lived in Barra Da Lagoa at the Barra Beach club ( before it was a hostel ) , I loved waking up to the ocean after a night out, rather than a noisy street and buildings. But that just me! Take care, Jim

The hostel is in a great location 2 blocks from the beach and its cheap so that's good we just didn't like that u can't bring ur own drinks in so u have to buy there expensive drinks whispch are over double the price of super market drinks. Wouldn't stay again

The hostel was good for the price but there wasn't enough bathrooms for everybody so you were always waiting for the toilet. There was a gym pool sauna steam room but we were never told about them by the staff so found at last minute that they were there I'm not sure if the guests were allowed to use them because the hostel also acts as a community centre. Bed thing the staff, they were so friendly. 25 mins on the train to time sq

It's more like a hotel then hostel you walk in they tell u ur room number and that's about the extent of the information you receive from the staff. Good area and not a bad price so if you know the city and don't need any information and don't wanna spend much time in the hostel it's okay

i liked the hostel and i know that i came not long after hurricane sandy but we had a day without water due to the hotels faulty pipes. we were there for 7 days and after the 2nd day the internet went down and it was out for the rest of our stay so considering the price we paid i don't think it was value for money the problem being that there was no solution given by the hostel on the internet front it was just that they didn't have it and never really made it clear when they would

NYC went though a catastrophe and unfortunately we experienced some troubles after the hurricane. The building maintenance worked hard to fix a broken pump and provide water service ASAP. The Internet was down in our area for a couple of days, and the service provider was not able to tell when they would be able to fix it. We did offer limited internet service for guests for emergencies. In the name of all of us in NYC, we apologize for all the inconvenience you had to endure during your stay.
